  1. RESTAURANT NIGHTS
  2. Alison Welch introduced as co-chair for Restaurant Night Committee
  3. Buffalo Wild Wings has extended the school’s restaurant fundraiser hours. Anyone can now go to BWW from 11AM until CLOSE on Wednesday, September 20, and WES PTO will still receive 15% of the sales! BWW has assured the Alison & Katie that they will honor the new times even though the original flyers have the 6pm-9pm time listed.
  4. Flyer must be presented to BWW in order for WES to get the 15%. Showing the flyer to BWW staff on the phone will not suffice.
  5. Alison asked if committee wanted to do Panera Bread coupons again this year. Committee voted yes.
  1. FUN RUN
  2. Discussed importance of event as a major fundraiser for the PTO
  3. Discussed the theme and presented fundraising goal of $9000
  4. Stated the class with the most amount fundraised would get a pizza party sponsored by the PTO
  5. Stated if the school met its fundraising goal of $9000, a school-wide assembly would be held. However, it was mentioned that the PTO was still looking for suggestions for the school-wide assembly. Examples given was last year’s winner when Ms. Warner dressed up in the Ping Panda costume and had a dance party with each grade. Mentioned the possibility of “pieing” PTO members or faculty/staff. Asked for any suggestions to be forwarded to the PTO for consideration.
  6. Stressed the importance of needing help from parents and others to assist with ensuring the fun run’s success.
  7. Next Fun Run Committee meeting to be held on Monday, September 25th at 7pm at Panera Bread.
  1. HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
  2. Diana Barr represented the hospitality committee
  3. She explained the purpose behind the committee and requested help from WES parents, grandparents, etc. Assistance last year was minimal and she and her co-chair, Jen Young, need additional support from parents to ensure the committee’s success.
  4. Their first event is a parent/teacher conference on October 19th. The other conference nights are October 24th, November 8th and an undetermined date in February 2018. An email and electronic signup will be sent out requesting assistance from parents.
  1. BUDGET UPDATE - TREASURER:
  2. Jennifer Brinkely-Gawel distributed the 2017 – 2018 PTO budget.
  3. She discussed the various items on the budget list including Birthday Books, student agendas, chick fil-a calendars, hospitality and spirit wear.
  1. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
  2. Cultural Night – PTO was asked to find out who was spearheading cultural night this year.
  3. Science Fair – a WES parent asked if a science fair would be held this year. Mrs. Warner stated this hasn’t been held for a few years as it requires a lot of work to put on and a WES parent and teacher to spearhead.
  4. Parent Night Outs/Movie Nights – Mr. Thompson asked the PTO to coordinate with him and the PE teachers regarding the dates for these events. The PE teachers will be receiving gymnastics equipment that cannot be moved around to accommodate these events. The band/orchestra will also be having events where equipment cannot be moved. Mr. Thompson will email the dates for his events.
  5. Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th @ 6:30pm

Meeting adjourned @ 7:10pm
