Wrapping Up March
From what the editor can recall only one event took place in March. On March 21 approximately 15 people joined the Knights in the Parish Room of St. Zachary to enjoy the movie Heaven Is For Real. From the reaction of those in attendance they would like to see more movie nights on the schedule. Really, you can’t beat the price…Free Admission with a Free Will
Donation to enjoy a movie and snacks. Other food is under consideration for future movie nights.
Highlights of the April Meeting
Due to the lack of a quorum there was only a general discussion session. Items bought up for discussion included The Tootsie Roll Drive scheduled for the Third Weekend of September, upcoming Honor Guard Requests, the Exemplification on Saturday April 18 in Glenview, the Annual State Convention in Itasca which will take place April 24-25 and 26. Not bought up at the meeting but of importance is the Officer Caucus Meeting to nominate officers for 2015-2016. The Committee will be meeting on April 17 to nominate new officers. Anyone who is a Third Degree member of the Council and would like to be considered for an office should contact me by no later than 6 PM April 15 to advise me of his desire. If you would also like to retain your current office please advise me. You may call me at 773-318-7987 (preferable) or email me .
Reaching for the Star(s)
As you know one of the awards that Supreme gives out is for Star Council. The goal for the Council this year is 8 new members and 3 insurance members. As of this time we have 8 new members but two have opted out of the Knights leaving us a total gain of 6 members.
We need 2 more new members to join the council by June 30, 2015 to help our Grand Knight achieve Star Council status. Let us show him our support and allow him to gain this status.

Fun Facts About April
The 4th month of the year is an outstanding one
According to early Roman calendar, April was the second month but became fourth when they started to use January as the first month. The name originally came from Aprilis, meaning 'to open'. In April, small animals that were hibernating usually come out and the birds fly back northward to settle, bees and butterflies begin to gather nectar. In some parts of the world, April is planting time but in other parts, it's the harvest season.
