Design Industry Careers

Standard 1: Analyze careers and explore the design industry.

  • Objective 1: Research employment and entrepreneurial opportunities and preparation for interior and/or fashion design careers.
  • Objective 2: Identify knowledge and skills for selected careers in interior design and fashion design industries.

Research information on one of the different careers related either Interior Design or Fashion Design that has been assigned to you. You will then present your information to the class to help them learn more and understand about this career as well.

Interior Design Careers:Fashion Design Careers:

-Interior Designer- Fashion Designer

-Graphic Designer- Purchasing

-Art Director- Buyers

-Display Designer- Retail Sales

-Fabricators- Theater

-Entrepreneur- Entrepreneur

Create a PowerPoint or some type of presentation providing the following information about the career:

  1. What are the working conditions, type of place, indoors or outdoors, with other people or alone, what time of the day or night would work, etc.
  2. Specific tasks involved in the job. (What does a typical day on the job include?)
  3. What training is required, and where would you go to get the necessary training? How expensive is the training, and how long does it take?
  4. What skills do you now have that would help you in this career?
  5. What is the job outlook? (How many jobs are there now available, what does the future look like?) Would you be required to go out of the state for your job?
  6. What are the average earnings, the top and the bottom earnings?
  7. Make sure to include a Work Cited Page using APA Format where all information is gathered.
