Student Government Minutes for the Meeting of October 2, 2008
The meeting on October 2, 2008 was called to order by President Kelley Bronson. The roll was taken by Secretary Jessica Balsei.
Old Business
- Secretary Jessica Balsei thanked those who volunteers at the voter registration booth. Volunteers for Wednesday, October 8 are 10am-Jessica Balsei, 11am-Alyson Wareing, 12pm-Ricardo Nesbit, 1pm-Ankeeta Singh.
- Secretary Jessica Balsei thanked those who helped out at Damian the Hypnotist.
- Treasurer Phillip Nuce reminded volunteers that the Falcons vs. West Liberty game is tonight, October 2 at 7pm.
- Treasurer Phillip Nuce reminded volunteers, Emily Miller, Alyson Wareing, and Ankeeta Singh, that the Tennis Match is going to be on Saturday, October 4 at 3pm.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley thanked those who helped out at the Latin Dance Party.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley reminded volunteers about the Campus Cleanup on Friday, October 3 from 2-4pm.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley reminded Desiree Cruz about Campus Visitation Day on Saturday, October 4 from 10am-2pm on Main Street.
- President Kelley Bronson thanked those who volunteered at the Chuck Todd portion of the Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series.
- President Kelley Bronson reminded volunteers, Jaime Hoffmann, Timmy Smith, Leslie Hess, and Jane Paterson, that the Buchanan & Martin Debate will take place on Monday, October 6 from 7-9pm in Colebank Gym. Volunteers must report by 6pm.
New Business
- Secretary Jessica Balsei announced that the Clothesline Project is going to be on Tuesday, October 14 from 9am-3pm on Main Street. Volunteers: 8:30am-Gabe Akers, 10am-Jeff Barr, 11am-Stephanie Keyser, 12pm- Courtney Young, 1pm-Timmy Smith, 2pm-Trent Johnson.
- Secretary Jessica Balsei announced that the Self Defense class is going to be held on Tuesday, October 7. Volunteers, Gabe Akers, Ricardo Nesbit, and Courtney Young, need to report at 7:15pm at the front desk.
- Treasurer Phillip Nuce encouraged members to go to the GSA film Imagine You and Me on Friday, October 17 at 8pm in Library MMA.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley announced that the Mix Off is going to take place on Thursday, October 9 from 7-8:30pm in Gym 1. Volunteers, Matt Heitmann, Trent Johnson, Leslie Hess, and Angela Lee, need to report at 6:30pm.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley announced that Bob Tinnel’s portion of the Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series is going to be on Thursday, October 16 at 7pm. Volunteers: Jaime Hoffmann, Courtney Bolyard, Ricardo Nesbit, and Matt Heitmann.
- Vice President Nicki Stanley announced that the Virgintini contest will take place on Thursday, October 23. Volunteers are Desiree Cruz, Jane Paterson, Heera Akram, and Debbie Chipps.
- President Kelley Bronson announced that Decision 2008 has been postponed and the new date is TBA.
- President Kelley Bronson encouraged members to go to the Residence Life Film-Casino Royale- on Friday, October 10 at 8pm in Pence Hall Lobby.
- President Kelley Bronson announced that the Homecoming Kickoff at the Caperton Center will be on Monday, October 13 from 4pm-7pm. Volunteers, Kelley Bronson and Shawn Ragsdale, need to be there from 3-7:15pm.
- President Kelley Bronson announced that the Homecoming Kickoff on Main Street will be from 12:30-1:30pm on Tuesday, October 14.
- President Kelley Bronson announced that the Light the Night Vigil is going to be on Tuesday, October 14 at 7pm. Jaime Hoffmann is the volunteer for this event.
Visitors
- The Republican Club gave their first petition to become a recognized organization on campus.
- The Society of Human Resource Management gave the first petition to become a recognized organization on campus.
Advisor’s Report
- Advisor Laurie Johnston told the volunteers for the Mix Off to make sure they get their t-shirts from Kat Stevens before the event.
- Advisor Laurie Johnston announced that the meeting to have a debate on campus between local/state candidates is going to be on Monday, October 6 at 10am.
- Advisor Laurie Johnson announced that the new date for the SIFE Credit Workshop is going to be on Tuesday, October 28. Larry Wilson is the Workshop Leader.
