Duffield Felix Frixou Squash Academy
Manifesto, Structure and Rules
- Manifesto.
The aim of the Squash Academy is to encourage and develop young aspiring squash players from Duffield Squash and Racketball Club, who show the potential of playing at the highest level.
- Structure.
- The Academy will be located at Duffield Squash and Racketball Club, 23 Town Street, Duffield, Derbyshire DE56 4EH.
- The Director of the Academy will be Felix Frixou .
- The day to day running of the Academy will be the responsibility of the Academy Manager (to be appointed).
- The finances of the Academy will be the responsibility the DSRC Treasurer, Bob Allen.
- It is intended that the Academy will work closely with, Lesley Sturgess, who will play an important role in identifying young gifted players and recommending them to the Academy Director and Manager as members.
- All Academy staff will volunteer their services to the Academy.
- Rules.
- Joining the Academy will be by invitation only.
- There will be no lower age limit, but it is only open to gifted players who show the promise of making it to the men’s and ladies senior squash teams. It is therefore expected that the players will not be younger than 13 years old.
- The Academy will be open to both male and female players.
- All Academy members must belong to Duffield Squash and Racketball Club (DSRC).
- There will be no charge for joining the Academy.
- The usual rules and terms and conditions as a member of DSRC will still apply.
- It is proposed that a limited number of courts will be made available to Academy players free of charge, in the same manner as coaches receive free courts. It is important that these courts are not requested at busy times. This is a members club and it is important that the members have priority when it comes to booking courts. Realistically free courts will only be made available before 3:20pm Monday to Sunday. As members of the club Academy members can book and pay for courts in the normal way as other junior members.
- Performance coaching will be provided on a regular bases free of charge to Academy members.
- It is anticipated that the Director and Manager of the Academy will organize competitions and events for the members. This will be done at little or no charge to the Academy members.
- Finances.
- A budget will be required to support the Academy and it is planned that this comes from sponsorship in a similar manner to that which was used to support for many years the Premier Squash Team. The Academy costs will be significantly lower than running the PSL team and it is proposed that sponsorship money is divided one third to DSRC, one third to the Titan Trust Children’s charity and the other third to the Academy.
- The bank account used will be the previous PSL account and will be administered by the DSRC Treasurer and the Academy Director.
- In the event of a wind-up of the Academy all the money allocated to it will be shared by the DSRC and the Titan Trust charity.
