Biome/Ecosystem Project
6th Grade Mrs. Sicari
Every member of your group must develop a background drawing that includes key features of your biome. Your background should include:
BACKGROUND DRAWING:
A mural and drawing of what the scenery of the biome looks like, including
- Types of trees
- Other plants that grow
- Animals that may be seen
- Color
- A description that describes and labels the names of your features
BIOME MAP
The group must provide a world map on the mural, you must:
- Indicate the locations of your biome by coloring the specific areas
- Create a detailed label for the map
- Attach the map to the mural on a large piece of paper as part of your display
BIOME CLIMATE
A section of your mural must include information about the weather that occurs in your biome. This section must include:
- The average temperature in the summer months
- The average temperature in the winter months
- The amounts of rainfall received in a year
- A paragraph (5-7 sentences minimum) explaining the typical climate: hot, cold, wet, dry, snow, ice, sand, etc.
PLANTS
A section of your display must include information about as many plants as you can find that are particular to your biome. This section must include:
- A drawing or picture of each plant
- A detailed description (in paragraph form) about each plant in which you describe 1) the species name, 2) describe why it is significant to that particular biome, 3) explain its adaptations that allows it to survive in this particular biome.
ANIMALS
On your mural you must include information about all the different types of animals that are particular to your biome. This section must include:
- A drawing/picture of each animal
- A paragraph (5-7 sentences minimum) about each animal
- Describe the species name, why it is significant to that particular biome
- Describe it adaptations that allows it to survive in this particular biome.
FOOD CHAIN
A section of your mural must include information about one food chain that occurs in your biome. This section must include:
- A labeled drawing/picture of a food chain that has a producer, consumer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, and decomposer
- A few brief sentences describing what is taking place in this food chain
Human Interference
A section of your mural must include a paragraph of how pollution or human interference occurs
What happens to the animal and plant life
Whether this interference is good or bad; is it good or bad or sometimes?

The day before the presentation, you should review this list and check off each item to indicate that you have completed all aspects of the project:
