Year 8 Upcoming Dates and Events
Dear Parents/Guardian
As this is such an exciting time for the year 8 pupils with lots happening I thought it was important to send out a letter just to confirm details and dates of upcoming events.
Event: Options Taster Days at Hastingsbury
Date: 7th, 8th and 9th of June 2016
Details:
- Students will make their own travel arrangements to travel to and leave from HBEC site for all three days. This is to help prepare students for September.
- Lessons will start on each day at 8.40 am but students need to be onsite by 8.30 am wearing their full middle school uniform
- On Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th, students need to bring their PE kits as they will have PE on one of those 2 days
- Lessons will finish each day at 2.45 pm so students need to make their way home at that time –with the exception of Thursday 9th of June where students can stay behind to wait for parents who want to meet with Mrs Young or Mrs Solvar-Isida between 3pm and 4pm for any questions they may have relating to the Options process.
Event: Sports Day
Date: 6thJuly 2016
Details:
- All day sports events!
- Come to school in PE kit – tops can be appropriate clothing of their house colour if not PE top.
- Parental support welcome!
Event: Transition Days
Date: KCA – 7TH & 8THJuly. Biddenham – 5thJuly. Wooton – 13th, 14th & 15th July
Details:
- Students will make their own travel arrangements to travel to and leave from their prospective schools. This is to help prepare students for September.

Event: Year 8 Prom
Date: 13th July 2016
Details:
- Prom this year is being held at Kempston Rovers Football Club
- The event will be from 7pm – 9pm.
- The pupils have chosen “An American Prom” as their theme.

Event: Robert Bruce Final Farewell Celebration Event
Date: 15th July
Details:
- Celebration event for the whole school and Kempston community for end of RBMS at this site.
- More details to follow
Event: End of Year Reward Trip – Box End Park
Date: 18th July 2016
Details:
- All pupils going to Box End Park for a fun day and some new activities
- Adventure Orienteering, Team games, Archery and the Aqua Park!
- Pupils who are not comfortable in the water for the Aqua Park, will take part in other activities so no need to worry.
- Pupils will need to bring a packed lunch on the day

As you can see this half term will be packed full of excitement and activities, as stated there will be more information to follow on a number of events but please don’t hesitate to contact myself or the school if you have any questions or concerns.
