To those concrete floor areas indicated on the drawings, surfaces shall be treated with a two component, penetrating hardener, densifier and stain resistant sealer.
1.12
General
All surfaces shall be prepared, and the penetrating hardener, densifier, sealer material applied strictly in accordance with the current manufacturer technical data sheet.
All work shall be carried out by an experienced contractor, who is well trained in the application of the specific, documented, concrete floor treatment system.
All materials used in conjunction with the floor treatment system, shall be approved by the concrete floor treatment supplier.

Surface Preparation
All surfaces to which the new floor treatment material is to be applied, shall be clean, sound, and free from loose material and contamination such as plaster, oil, paint, grease or curing compound.
Preferably the concrete surface should have a light 100 grit diamond grind to ensure the concrete pores are open to allow the treatment to penetrate effectively.
The concrete surface must be thoroughly cleaned with a neutral cleaner and then fresh water, to remove any contaminants or surface barriers.
The surfaces to be treated must be completely dry before initial application.

The penetrating treatment material is to harden, densify, dustproof and provide a stain resistant sheen seal to the concrete surface. The finished floor is to have a clear and defined sheen. The treatment is suitable for new or existing concrete. The two part system is to be easy to clean and maintain.

The surface treatment material is to exhibit the following properties:
Abrasion resistance: / + 43% Over untreated concrete / (ASTM C 779)Permeability: / Greatly reduced / (CRD-C 48-73)
Water vapour transmission: / 0.75 treated c/w 0.98 untreated g/hour/m2 / (ASTM E-96-94)
Chloride Ingress: / 97% treated c/w 0% untreated / (NCHRP No. 244)
