Shift: Hours are 11:00pm to 7:30am. Days are TBD but could include weekends.

SUMMARY:

Provide professional customer service to travelers on the commercial roadway at our beautiful Portland International Airport. Greet travelers and assist them with their transportation needs after they exit the baggage claim area. Dispatch a sufficient number of taxicabs to the loading point on the commercial roadway and assist the flow of the taxi line. Assist customers with acquiring town cars and locating the correct shuttle bus. Provide information to travelers who need assistance with other forms of ground transportation, as well as general information about the surrounding Portland-Metro area.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Learn and follow procedures concerning customer service, transportation options, and Port regulations.

· Ensure that a sufficient number of taxicabs are available for travelers by dispatching taxicabs to the loading point on the commercial roadway.

· Communicate effectively and professionally with travelers, drivers, co-workers, supervisors, and Port of Portland personnel.

· Communicate with co-workers over a hand held radio with clarity and conciseness.

· Work within a team in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and proactive.

· Document incidents and produce detailed reports manually and electronically.

· Report accidents, suspected violations, safety hazards, or any unusual occurrence to the reporting supervisor.

· Advocate and enforce Port of Portland rules and regulations by ensuring a fair trade transportation environment for all customers.

· Must have excellent attendance and arrive to work on time when scheduled.

· Basic computer skills needed.

· Other duties may be assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The roadway is covered, but fully outside. Temperature and wind are determined by the weather. Uniforms and cold weather gear are provided. Applicant must be able to walk and stand outside, on concrete, for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 30 lbs. Must be able to be outside in adverse weather conditions for long periods of time, maneuver between vehicles, and step on and off of curbs to assist customers.

DRUG SCREENING & BACKGROUND CHECK:

Applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and pass a drug screen that includes testing for marijuana.

SHIFTS:

This is a graveyard position.

WAGE:

The starting wage is $11.50 per hour.

EDUCATION & AGE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and must be at least (18) years of age.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and write English exceptionally well and have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, drivers, and co-workers.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to make sound judgments. Ability to apply patience when communicating with customers in difficult situations.

TOOL USAGE:

Ability to function with a hand-held radio, taxi remote, multi-line telephone, and computer with Microsoft software.
