GENERAL BUSINESS:

F2B Team Trials

The meeting was informed that the team reserves and their ranking as advised to MAAA had been agreed between the 2 persons concerned; J Parrisi (Qld) 1st Reserve and P Angleberger (S.A.) 2nd Reserve.

It was noted that the amount to be paid equally to the ultimate team members, equivalent to the net amount of the total entry fees, has not been determined as an invoice for the fee for use of the ground for 2 days has not yet been received. The gross amount is $1,200 representing $200 non refundable entry fee from 4 entrants and 1 $400 late entry fee.

Electric Motor Propulsion

A general discussion ensued in respect to the potential hazards of operating models with electric motors. B Hoffman voiced an opinion to the effect that in his experience operating such models is no more hazardous than operating models with conventional power. R. Armstrong (an Electronics Engineer by profession) spoke of potential concerns and is in the process of preparing a paper on the subject for consideration by CLAS in due course. The meeting was also informed that the matter is currently the subject of discussion on the international scene.

Following further discussion of the subject generally and incidents involving the use of electric motors it was moved R Towell, seconded B Eather and carried that affiliated clubs be informed that CLAS recommends a helper be used to launch electric models and a lone flyer should use a properly constructed stooge.

GENERAL BUSINESS (contd)

Definition of Control Line Flight

B Eather submitted a written definition of control line flight for onforwarding to the Chairman of the Control Line Sub Committee.

NSW State Championships

Letter from P Barclay drawing attention to the inclemency of the weather on the June long weekend over the past few years and the possibility of considering an alternative date for the event. Also suggested that more vintage stunt competitions be held.

It was noted that the possibility of an October long weekend date is already being looked into in terms of a site being available. On the subject of vintage stunt events there was general discussion and the unanimous view was that holding vintage stunt events best rests in the domain of the affiliated clubs and CLAS as an entity should continue to run just the 1 event each year, namely the State Championships.

F2A and F2C State Championships.

A Heath has taken charge of organising the event. It will be held at the Albury hard circle site on the October long weekend.

Entry fee to be $20.00 per team with 1 medal and 1 certificate to be presented to the teams placing 1st 2nd and 3rd.

Entry forms to be prepared and forwarded to Hon. Secretary for distribution to the usual places.

Contest Director, jury and other officials and helpers required to manage the event to be appointed in due course.

It is noted that the Hon. Secretary wrote to Twin Cities club in October last year requesting use of the facility for the October 2011 long weekend and confirmation was received the same month. However the dates arranged did not include the Friday before the long weekend as now required and consequently a further request will be made.

The event is to be entered on the Barton Site forum.

CLAS Annual General Meeting

General discussion concerning the lack of support from affiliated clubs, more particularly those in the Sydney metropolitan area, in putting forward nominations for the various executive positions and the benefits that could be bought to the organisation by more people prepared to invest time and make positive input. It was noted that over the years most of the load has been carried by just a few long serving people generally representing the stunt discipline.

Meeting closed 9.35pm.

John McIntyre.

Hon. Asst. Secretary CLAS.
