Technology and Tech Services Committee Meeting Minutes

Chair Enke called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM. Attendees introduced themselves, and adopted the agenda and minutes.

ROUND TABLE

OC Law

Currently looking into getting new fiber line. Exploring open source as an option. HVAC system went down, currently looking into fixing system.

Fullerton

Installed Bibliotheca gates and a kiosk. Completed Horizon upgrade and upgrade to computer software.

Yorba Linda

YLPL continues to explore options for a new OPAC. They are currently working with City to move to Cloud base. They are testing software to implement auto renewals.

Buena Park

Buena Park Public Library continues exploring a new ILS. Polaris experiencing some issues with security, pushing on moving towards Cloud base.

Mission Viejo

Tech City was under cyber-attack through SirsiDynix server. Continue to work on special projects.

Santa Ana

Santa Ana Public Library implemented Envisionware but have experienced some issues. They received State Grant for Virtual Reality Project.

Newport Beach

Newport Beach Public Library Tech Toys are now available to circulate at the branches. They continue to work on the RFP for a new ILS. Implemented Digital Saturdays with B&T Access 360 audiobooks.

SLACK

The Committee held a discussion about Slack as a potential communication tool. They discussed possible legal/privacy concerns, which Scott will discuss with Executive Chair and report back. Discussion to continue at the next meeting.

AGENDA PREPARATION FOR Q1 2018 MEETING

The next meeting is scheduled for February at the Placentia Library District, date and time TBD.

ADJOURNMENT/DEMOS

The meeting adjourned at 1:45 PM. Staff from the Santa Ana Public Library provided a demonstration of their virtual reality technology.
