DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:Working Facility Foreman
MAIN PURPOSE:
For assisting in the maintenance of all recreation facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities will be undertaken under the supervision and in conjunction with the Working Facility Foreman and/or the Recreation Facilities Operators (full-time and part-time).
General
- Assisting with the implementation of a proper Risk Management Program.
- Enforcing of all policies and procedures, rules and regulations of the Corporation.
- Ensuring all necessary safety procedures and practices are followed to prevent accidents including reporting all accidents and incidents to the Working Facility Foreman (accident reports must be completed for all minor and major accidents).
- Completing daily log and the end of each shift.
- Supervising part-time staff.
Facilities
1.Performing maintenance and janitorial duties and necessary repairs associated with all recreation building facilities, structures, parks, and playing fields and includes reporting major breakdowns and repairs to the Working Facility Foreman.
2.Setting up and cleaning up for all hall and ice surface rentals (to include the set-up and clean-up duties associated with bar operations) as well as all Recreation Department sponsored programs and special events.
- Reporting the need to replenish equipment and arena supplies to the Working Facility Foreman.

- Any other duties as assigned by the Working Facility Foreman.
Ice Surface Operations/Maintenance
- Performing maintenance associated with ice surfaces in the arena and curling rink (including the laying, lining and removal of the ice surfaces and the operation of the ice resurfacer and other related equipment essential to the proper maintenance of the ice surfaces).
- Maintaining the ice resurfacing equipment including other related equipment essential for the proper maintenance of the ice surfaces.
- Performing basic maintenance of the refrigeration plant and system.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS AND TRAINING
Education
- Possess/willing to obtain a Basic Refrigeration Certificate.
- Possess/willing to obtain an Ice Making Technology Certificate.
- St. John’s Ambulance First Aid Certificate or Equivalent.
- C.P.R.
- W.H.M.I.S
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Server Intervention Program Certification or Smart Serve
- Propane Safety Handling Certificate
Skills – The following skills are required:
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to operate ice resurfacing equipment and industrial/commercial field-grooming equipment.
- Ability to perform general maintenance duties.
- Ability to maintain a respectable public image and conduct.
- Ability to maintain positive interaction with public.
- Exceptional public relations and customer service skills.
- Class “G” Drivers License
Experience – The following experience is required:
- Basic experience in the operation and maintenance of an ice making refrigeration plant and system.
- Experience in the preparation, maintenance and removal of an ice surface in an arena and/or curling rink.
- Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of ice resurfacing equipment.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of field-grooming equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Recreation facilities environment both inside and out.
- Shift work and weekend work will be required.
- Subjected to hazardous chemicals.
- Required to maintain a presentable appearance.
