National health conference business Change Champions is celebrating its three year anniversary with the launch of a new website.
Change Champions is fast gaining a reputation for being a national leader in the provision of high quality seminars and workshops that showcase leadership and innovation in healthcare.
Managing director Char Weeks said the success of her business showed how important it was for healthcare professionals to have meaningful forums in which they can share ways to tackle the complex problems facing the health system’s clinicians and managers.
“Healthcare is complex and constantly changing against a backdrop of limited resources and workforce shortages, so health professionals need to work together to deliver best practice to patients and clients,” Ms Weeks said.
Ms Weeks hasdeveloped and just launched anewwebsite ( that allows for online registration, ticket payment and submission of abstracts for her seminars. She said the site will be useful to others in the health industry and is willing to enter into licence agreements to use the application.
The NSW based business presentsa program of about eight seminars around the country each year and organises similar events for healthcare clients.
Ms Weeks has worked in the healthcare sector for 18 years. The secret to her success is that she designsseminar programsin line with the latest directions and issues in health, attracting leading international speakers to complement Australian experts.
Recent seminars have covered topics including emergency care, elective surgery, skill mix and workforce development, outpatient care, aged care and clinical handover. Upcoming seminars cover topics such as improving medication safety (Melbourne, March 5-7) and improving the management of cognitive impairment of older people (Sydney, April 17-18).
She likes to bring other nation’s experiencesto the table to allow health professionals to debate whether those ideas are appropriate to the Australian healthcare setting.
“For example we have nine UK speakerscoming to the upcoming medication safety seminar to talk about non-medical prescribing including clinical governance issues,” she said.
A passion for building networks to help health professionals to improve the Australian healthcare system is one of her key business motivations.
