William Muddock

This is the last will and testament

of me William Muddock of the Parish of Saint

Andrews,Holborn in the county of Middlesex_____.

First I order and direct that my body be devoutly

buried at the discretion of my executors here

after named and that all my just debts and funeral

expenses be by thempaid and satisfied as soon as

convenient to them. I give and bequeath unto my

son Samuel Muddock and to my cousin Thomas

Baker of Chiddingly in the county of Sussex

each the sum of six hundred pounds Consolidated

Three of Govt (Guilt?)Annuities now standing in my name

on the books of the Governor and Company of the

Bank of England to hold the same to them the said

Samuel Muddock and Thomas Baker their heirs (sole?)

Executors and Administrators In Trust _____

and to and for their several uses funeralsand purposes

hereinafter mentioned and declared (that is to say

in Trust for the use and benefit of my sixGrand

children three of whom are my son William Muddock's

and one my son Samuel Muddock’sand two my son John

Muddock’s to be equally divided between them my

un___ing and desire is each of the said six grandchildren

may be intitled to and receive one hundred pounds

stock out of the above six hundred as they shall

respectively arrive at the age of eighteen years

and that they be entitled to the interest thereof

from that first usual payment after my decease, and

that my said Trustees above named or the survivors

of them, his Executors or Administrators do reserve

the interest of the aforesaid six hundred pounds

and expend the same as to them shall seem most

advantageous for the Trust now imposed on them

so that every one of the said children separately

hath the interest of one hundred pounds Stock

and further my will is that if after my said Grandchildren

shall happen to die before as they arrive at the age

of eighteen years then the respective share of the

person so dying to become the property of his

or her surviving Brother or Brothers or Sister and

for want of such Brother or Sister, to my son Samuel

his Heirs or Assigns. I give and bequeath unto my

son William Muddock the sum of seven hundred

pounds Stock in the Consolidated Three Year Govt (Guilt?)

Annuities to be paid or transferred to him his Heirs

or Assigns within one month after my decease. I also

give my said son William my large silver cup and

to his son William my watch. I give to my son John

Muddock the sum of eight hundred pounds stock in

theaforesaid three year Govt (Guilt?) Annuities to be paid

or transferred to him his Heirs or Assigns within

one month after my decease. I give to my son

Samuel Muddock the sum of nine hundred pounds

stock in the aforesaid Three Year Govt (Guilt?) Annuities to

be transferred or paid to him his Heirs or Assigns

within one month after my decease. I give to my son

Mark Muddock the sum one thousand pounds

stock in theaforesaid Three Year Govt (Guilt?) Annuities to

be transferred to him his Heirs or Assigns within

one month after my decease. I also give to my said

son Mark the lease of my house wherein I now

dwellwith all my stock in trade, tools and implements

thereof and my desire is that he shall have it in

his power to take my household furniture at a

fair appraisement or leave it to be disposed of as

my Executors herein afore named shall think proper.

I give to my sister Mary Gouldthe sum of ten guineas

to be paid within one month after my decease but if

she should happen to die before that timethen the

said ten guineas to become the lawfull property

of my aforesaid cousin, Thomas Baker. I give to my

_____ daughter-in-law _____ the sum of five pounds

for mourning. I give to my sister-in-law Sarah Potts

the sum of five pounds for mourning. I give to my

cousin Martha Baker of Butley in the county of

Suffolk the sum of five guineas to be paid within

one month after my decease. I give to my aforesaid

cousin Thomas Baker the sum of five guineas. I give to my

godson William Baker, son of the above named

Martha Baker, one guinea and I also give to my

cousin Benjamin Downingand Martha his wife

now of Ipswich in Suffolk, each of them one guinea

for a ring. I desire that my wearing apparell

Sin___ and _____ be as equally divided between

my four sons as my Executors conveniently can

do it and as to all the rest, residue and remainder

of my estatewhether ___al or personal of what

nature or kindsoever and whomesoever after the above

Begaries Debts, Funeral and other expenses

are fully paid and discharged, I give devise and

bequeath the same to be equally divided between

my aforesaid son Samuel Muddock and my aforesaid

cousin Thomas Baker as residuary Legatees and

further I do hereby will and declare that my

Executors shall no be chargeable with or

accountable for any more _____ than they shall

actually ___ive or shall round into their rounds by

virtue hereof nor shall either of them be

accountable for any act or deed done by the other

without their joint consent and I desire also that

my Executers deduct out of my Estate all suchcosts

damages and expenses as they or either of them

shall be put to or sustain for or by reason of the

execution hereof. And lastly I do hereby nominate

and appoint the aforesaid Thomas Baker and my

aforesaid son Samuel Muddock, Executors of this my

last will and testament, herebyrevoking all former

wills and codicils by me made, declaring this only to

be my last will and testament unto which I have

hereunto set my hand and seal this FOURTEENTHDAY

OF JULY IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORDONE THOUSAND SEVEN

HUNDRED AND EIGHTYSIX -- William Muddock-- signed and

published and declared by the said Testator as and

for his last will and testament in the presence of in

who in his presence and at his request and in the

presence of each other, have subscribed our names
