Due the First Week of School
Steps to successful reading this summer:
- Read for at least one hour every week.
- Record your reading on the reading log provided by the district.
- Choose one or more books from the attached list (or choose one of your own favorites).
- Fill out the attached book response form.
- Return your log and book response form to your teacher during the first week of school.
- Receive your Summer Reading Incentive!

2012 Summer Reading Log for Children Entering Kindergarten/First Grade
Reading over the summer will help your child to maintain the progress they have made in the previous school year. This will ensure a successful start to the school year.

Directions:

- Book may be chosen from the attached list, or you may choose your own.
- Students should read 9 out of the 10 weeks. Mark an X in the box for the week you choose not to read.
- Help your child complete the book response form for ONE of the books that you read.
- Return complete log and book response form to your classroom teacher within the first week of school.
- Students who complete the CSD Summer Reading activities will be recognized and rewarded for their participation.
