Goals 09/10
1.Submit Budget to Executive for coming year
2.Monthly meeting or otherwise as decided by committee. Decisions made at these meetings will be by majority of members present.
3.Explore having a long term plan and a significant new community development project.
4.Succesfully complete on-going projects as listed below and new projects as they arise
5.Organize Rotary sheds ( Master of the Keys to oversee)
6.Rotary signage on “yellow Bridge” and “Golf Course”
7.Continue support of programs involving ;
-children 0-6,- child and youth, -parents, -seniors
-support to LSS & its feeder schools, -literacy project, -Ladysmith community.-

New business:
Lengthy discussion re lack of gaming money from government which helped support the worthy causes clubs like Rotary donate to.

A)- ask our executive committee to voice concern to Provincial Government on the removal of funding to volunteer groups like Rotary who supported community projects.
B)–ask District 5020 Governor to write on behalf of the district to Provincial Gov. to voice this concern
C)–ask other Rotary and Service clubs, News papers, Individuals in the community to do same.
Due to reduced/no income from government Gaming. community service committee recommends the executive approve their suggestion of directing funds donated to local school PAC groups be used to target schools” Poverty Initiaves/students at Risk” as opposed to general funding. Action: Mary to Executive committee

If executive approves the above suggestion we donate $250 dollars to Ladysmith Primary PAC with the above proviso. Action : Mary

-salvation Army. Letter arrived to committee too late.
-Private Family request; Does not meet criteria for help from Community service. Return letter to President as he may wish to appeal to Club as individuals. Action Mary.
Community services committee would like to see a Leadership/ strategic Plan for the Club for 2010 and beyond. This would clarify the overall priorities of the club and also the specific focus and goals for each club committee for the next few years.

-Doug reports there is an old heritage tug boat wanting refurbishing and a home. More information to come. Action; Doug
-Brenda brought a proposal to “Create a Cultural Shelter” that would house Arts, crafts, Food/cultural ceremonies for generations to come. It would be built in the Park @Kuleet BayBC for Chemainus first nations. Town of Ladysmith would also be involved. This shelter would be erected on or near the sight of the fire at KuleetBay last January 09 in which 5 lives were lost.
More information will be available at next meeting. Action ; Brenda
-Mary was approached in person about Rotary constructing a Public washroom in the down-town Ladysmith area.
