The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority announces the opening of the position titledSPECIAL PROJECTS PRODUCERbased in Oklahoma City. The most qualified candidate(s) will be contacted for an interview.
This position is responsible for handling producer responsibilities as assigned for OETA productions. A primary function will involve working with news and public affairs and production management as producer for the weekly Oklahoma News Report program. This position will collaborate with the ONR Managing News Editor in determining content and stacking, writing and reviewing scripts, reviewing video packages, doing script and video editing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keepinginformed on current news, issues and personalities and conducting news research; video editing, guest booking and ensuring all video is ready for broadcast; selecting appropriate graphics and guiding pre- and post-production.
- Producer duties for special OETA programs as assigned, such as election coverage, in-studio interviews or public affairs programs, live remote programs, live-to-tape productions, or other special programs or content yet to be determined.
- May spearhead creation of in-house production for on-air or promotional material as assigned, supervising creation to completion, working with production and other departments to achieve a pre-determined goal.
- Must effectively communicateand coordinatewith OETA management, news and public affairs staff and other departments to meet deadlines.
- Oversee and ensure that video and other relevant content is loaded onmultiple digital platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have the ability to make difficult and rapid decisions under deadline pressure.
- Excellent editorial judgment and writing skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize take initiative and communicate effectively to accomplish goals.
- Effective time management.
- 3 years’ work experience with newsroom skills, video editing and basic computer skills required.
- Interest in and knowledge of Oklahoma and issues of statewide significance is important.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred.
- Competence in Internet and social media applications, AVID editing equipment.
- Must be able to lift 30lbs and have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
COMPENSATION
Salary range: $33,000-$36,000. A generous benefit package including health, leave, retirement plus much more is included.
