Use of Digital / VideoImages

The use of digital / video images plays an important part in learning activities. Pupils and membersofstaff may use digital cameras and iPads to record evidence of activities in lessons and out of school. These imagesmaythen be used in presentations, in subsequentlessons and in online ‘class blogs’.

Imagesmayalsobeusedtocelebratesuccessthroughtheirpublicationinnewsletters, ontheschoolwebsiteand occasionally in the publicmedia. The school will ensure that when images are published they are not accompanied by the child’s full name.

In accordance with guidance from the Information Commissioner’s Office, parents / carers are permitted totakevideos and digital images of theirchildren at school events (e.g. class assemblies and sports day) for their own personal use. To respect everyone’s privacy and, in some cases, protection, theseimagesshould not be published or made publicly available on social networking sites as inevitably other children may feature in the photograph/videos. Should the image/video taken simply feature the child of the parent/ carer, the use of the image is left to his or her discretion. However, the school strongly advises that parents/ carers refrain from adding such pictures/videos to social networking sites as the child’s school uniform is likely to give away unnecessary personal information. Parents / carers are not permitted to take pictures of pupils if volunteering on school trips.

The school complies with the Data Protection Act and requests parents’ / carers’ permission to allow the school to take and use images of their children:
