TIGTA Transitional Rifle Qualification Course (1/1/2001)
Targets: 100 yard range ILEFI "Q", FBI "Q" or Transtar II
Scoring: All 20 rounds (18 in target body and 2 in target head) must hit the scoring area of the silhouette to qualify. The scoring area for the IALEFI and FBI targets is the "coke-bottle" portion of the target. Score only the 4 and 5 rings of the Transtar II target. "Head" shots are defined as the top 6" X 6" portion of the IALEFI and FBI targets and the top 6 inches of the Transtar II target.
Procedure: Start position is the FLETC "FI" stance (standing) with hands hanging naturally at your side and the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down.
Use turning targets; horn or whistle; or the command to fire.
After firing, SCAN left and right of your target, engage the safety, and sling your rifle. Load two magazines with 10 rounds each, and place the second magazine in your magazine pouch or a pocket.
100 yards (5 rounds)
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, assume a prone position and shoot a 5 round group in 30 seconds.
100 yards (4 individual rounds)
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, shoot one round from standing in 5 seconds. Repeat.
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, shoot one round from kneeling in 6 seconds. Repeat.

Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, shoot one round from kneeling in 5 seconds. Repeat.
25 yards (3 individual rounds)
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, shoot one round from standing in 3 seconds. Repeat twice.
7 yards (4 individual rounds)
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down,
shoot one round from standing in 2 seconds. Repeat.
Start standing, the rifle slung on the weak side shoulder, muzzle down, shoot one round from standing to the head of the target in 3 seconds. Repeat.
Clear the rifle. Check it visually and physically. Insert yellow safety block and sling the rifle. Once the Range is SAFE, score the targets.
Note: The TIGTA Rifle Program requires frequent use of a 100 yard rifle range. If a 50 yard range must be utilized for qualification, use a Transtar I target. Score any hit on the silhouette and for the required head shots score the top 5 inches of the head. Additional modifications are required to shoot the course on a 50 yard range. Shoot the 100 yard shots from 50 yards and:
Decrease the 30 second time limit to 25 seconds
Decrease the 5 second time limit to 4 seconds
Decrease the 6 second time limit to 5 seconds
