Minutes of the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING held at The Tudor Building, Mellor Road, Cheadle Hulme, on Tuesday 22nd November 2016 at 6.45pm.

MINUTES OF THE AGM November 9th 2015 AND MATTERS ARISING
The minutes were accepted as an accurate record and there were no matters arising.
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT (ALEC SMALLEY)
This had been posted on the Notice Board and was accepted by the meeting.
AS highlighted the introduction, during the year, of Duplimated Boards with hand records.
Further, following the sad loss of Chris Barton, a new website became essential and a move to PIANOLA was made. The present focus is on providing results and club information.
TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR’S REPORT (DAVID BARTON)
Due to the absence of DB there was no report.
TREASURER’S REPORT (BARBARA KIDWELL)
The accounts which had been posted on the Notice Board were accepted by the meeting.
BK thanked David Barton for preparing the accounts, and Adrian Roberts for auditing them and agreeing to act as Auditor next year.
BK was pleased to report a small surplus for the last year.
MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY’S REPORT (BARBARA LEWIS)
BL reported that the current membership is 152 to include 5 honorary members.
During the last year the club gained 18 new members: and since September, 11 members have resigned and 9 are yet to renew.

The following awards were made:
John Barton Cup: D Barton, J Currie, R Alexander and J Smith
Committee Cup: D Barton and J Currie
Pivot Teams: D Barton, J Currie, R Alexander and J Smith
Tuesday Cup: H Tattersall and A Green
Tuesday Pairs: P Buxton and A Whitehead
Mixed Pairs: E Lighthill and B Cooke
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The officers for 2015-2016 were:
Chairman: Alec Smalley
Secretary: Pat Buxton
Treasurer: Barbara Kidwell
Tournament Director: David Barton
Membership Secretary: Barbara Lewis
Auditor: A Roberts
The above were re-elected unopposed.
H Hulmes and S Taylor were re-elected to the Committee, and L Czyniewska was elected as a new member.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
AS reported that the Pivot Teams competition had been held on a Thursday during the past year. As the attendance was poor it was decided to revert to holding it on a Monday during the present season.
BridgeMates:
AS reported that it should be possible to introduce bridgemates during the present year, dependent on securing sufficient helpers in the club on duplicate evenings, and dealing with the necessary logistics to set up the systems. A working group would look into the various issues and Jeff Smith would, in due course, be approached to assist.
Slow play:
Several complaints have been received about slow play and so a sheet of Bridge Etiquette is being circulated in the club to try to address and prevent some of the issues which lead to slow play.
