Dear Sir or Madam,
Re: Bosham Parish Neighbourhood Plan (BPNP)
I am writing to you as a landowner or someone has a stake in significant land-holdings in the Parish of Bosham. We are currently writing draft policy on a range of topics, which have a bearing on developments within the Parish over the next 15 years.
It may be that you wish to see no change in this period, but perhaps you would wish the project team to consider developments that you have in mind. Obviously, over 80% of the parish area is covered by protective designations, particularly the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The rest of the parish lies between the AONB and the SouthdownsNational Park and is largely grade 1 and Grade 2 agricultural land.
Nonetheless, we wish to meet our requirement under the emerging Chichester District Local Plan of achieving the development of an additional 50 homes within the plan period. In addition, we need to consider the needs ofthe local economy in providing opportunities for business growth and localemployment.
The other major constraints are concerned with drainage and sewerage. Despite the best efforts of the Environment Agency in their recent ‘Operation Watershed’, justifiable and evidenced concerns remain concerning fluvial flooding. This is in addition to coastal inundation caused by unpredictable weather episodes and some exceptionally high tides. Sewerage remains a concern as the existing systems has been shown to fail on many conditions particularly associated with down-pours and ingress of storm water into the sewer pie system causing pump failure and sewage release to the harbour.
Should youhave development proposals, we would like to invite you to present these at two exhibitions. We have booked 11th July (at Bosham Village Hall) and 18th July (at St Nicholas Hall). We intend both setting up at 16.00, open to the public from 17.00, winding down at 20.00, firmly shut and packed up by 21.00. We have provision to offer each site stakeholder two A1 display boards, and of course you may bring other explanatory leaflets should you desire. Pleaselet me know by 1st July if you would like to participate.
