Other / The ProposedSafety Manager is responsible for the Following:
- Under the direction of the General Manager, the Safety Manager is responsible for the overall safety of the operations under the terms of this contract
- Monitors and evaluate staff performance.
- Monitors and evaluate staff adherence to schedule.
- Monitors and evaluate staff procedures.
- Provides Safety Training on a quarterly basis to all employees
- Preforms weekly update meetings and tail gate meetings
- Oversees initial driver training, and continued training.
- Maintains adequate staff
- Ensures Staff is adequately trained, understands, an executes on safety and security standards.
- Oversees compliance with all company, client, and DOT regulations, policies and procedures
- Ensures that all reporting and risk management tools are up-to-date, and correct.
- Ensures all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations and contract compliances are fallowed
- Provides support in implementing the approved recommendations
- Select, hires, and trains qualified candidates for employment.
- Overseesthe Transit Center is clean and safe environment.
- Performs hourly inspection/cleaning of the transit facility and vehicles.
- Janitorial duties as needed.
Knowledge/Abilities: /
- Must have good customer and employee relations skills with ability to communicate effectively with the public and employees.
- Must have excellent decision-making skills. Must have extensive working knowledge of public transit. Good oral and written communication skills are required.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments.
- Thorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation.
- Ability to analyze a variety of complex problems with the ability to make sound recommendations for their solutions and to prepare working procedures.
- Ability to work effectively and closely with the City’s Transportation Manager, Supervisors, and all Staff.
Working Conditions: /
- Fifty (40) percent outdoor activities. Fifty (60) percent indoor activities.
- May include working in inclement weather as needed.
- Ability to work varied hours – all shifts within a seven-day work week.
- Ability to drive a transit vehicle or dispatch, if needed.
Qualifications: /
- AN H6 DMV DRIVING REPORT (NO OLDER THAN FIVE DAYS) MUST BE ATTACHED WHEN APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
- Current DMV print-out with no significant safety related restrictions.
- Possession of a class B valid California driver’s license with a passenger endorsement and air brakes.
- Acceptable driving record-must be qualified for SM Transit insurance coverage.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrate the ability to use personal computer and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and various office equipment and software.
- Pre-Employment and Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Required.
Education: /
- High school graduate or equivalent is required. A two year Degree required in business administration or related field is preferred.
Experience: /
- Two to five years of experience in Public transportation operations or a safety supervisory/management position.
- At least one year supervisory experience.
- Experience preferred in the transportation of the developmentally disabled.
