Victoriana
To Florists, Garden Clubs, and interested individuals
The Cape & Islands Orchid Society will be hosting their 19th Orchid Show at the Seacrest Resort & Conference Center in Falmouth on January 9-12, 2008. We have chosen the theme Victoriana for the 2008 orchid show. We hope you will be inspired to use the theme in your arrangements. Please include our show announcement in your monthly newsletter. We would like to encourage individuals from your club to put on a modest or elaborate display.
This year we are looking to expand the cut floral displays at this event. We believe using orchids, as cut flowers will help people see how lovely orchids are when used in flower arranging. We have expanded the floral categories you can consider when creating your arrangement.
Wearable orchids - corsages, hairpieces, wristlets etc.
Orchid Wedding Bouquet – orchids predominating
Individual Orchid – a solitary orchid or orchid stem uniquely featured
Flower arrangement – floral design featuring multiple orchid stems
The only flowers in the arrangements must orchids. Other greens and dried materials are encouraged so long as they are used as accent materials. Flowers may be replaced during the event to insure the arrangements look their very best. The venue is open for grooming Fri, Sat and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and must be completed before 9:00 a.m. when we open to the public. Arrangements can be made to groom your cut flower display after closing on Saturday if necessary.
Flower arrangements must be delivered on Thursday between 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. to the Sea Crest – Nauset display area.
We plan on having special flower judging for these displays. There will be individual judging categories for amateur and professional floral exhibitors. All Entries will be judged based on originality, color, harmony, balance, mechanics and the overall design of
each arrangement.
Attached is a Cut Flower Exhibitor Application. Any interested individuals may contact me directly so I can assist them at 508 540-5006 or .
