Creative Writing II: Final Project
Choice 1: Portfolio
In Creative Writing, students compiled portfolios of work each quarter, portfolios that illustrated different genres. Some students would like to continue this project—and you certainly may do so! Go through your work from this semester and select your best three pieces to rewrite (just be sure that you have at least two of the three main genres represented: fiction, nonfiction and poetry); submit a portfolio of all of the drafts from these three pieces (with the final draft of each piece stapled on top), along with a cover letter describing what you have learned as a writer.
Choice 2: Personal Reflection
Some students would rather create a new piece for their final project—and they have submitted a number of reflective choices. See which of the following strikes you as interesting to work on…
High school: looking back, was your experience in high school what you thought it would be?
Life: what has made you into the young person you are today? How have family, friends, interests/hobbies, etc., impacted your personality?
You, you, you: describe a moment or a memory that shaped you.
Someone else: who is your hero—and why?
Choice 3: Group Project
While some students prefer to work individually, some would rather work in a group, so here is your chance to do so! The group choice involves writing a project of your genre choice—but you have to let me know (this doesn’t mean the day before—it means when you make the Group Project choice ).
Choice 4: Go Sci-Fi
Everyone is different. While some students want to reflect upon their personal growth or work in a group, others want to write in an entirely different genre—they want to create new worlds. If this is you, go for it!
No matter which project you select, please be sure that:
You have 2-4 pages of work in your final product
You use Times New Roman, font size 12, and you double space all work
You hand in all of your drafts—let’s continue our focus on the writing process!
