Boston Trauma Response and Recovery Network
Action
The Boston Trauma Response and Recovery Network (The Network or BTRRN) is a network for 5 funded neighborhood trauma teams consisting of a community health center partnered with a community based organization to provide a continuum of trauma response and recovery services. Additionally, the JRI SMART Team is funded to provide mobile city-wide response services, short-term recovery services, and support to each of the 5 neighborhood based teams.
The success of The Network requires daily collaboration with the BCYF Streetworker Department, BPD, EMS, and area hospitals.
Aspirations
To build a system of care at the neighborhood level that strengthens resident’s ability to understand what trauma is; and how to recognize its impact on their lives, the lives of their family and friends, and on their community. To know what they can do to recover and heal from exposure to traumatic events and to know how to access; what to expect from; and how to hold accountable the system of care.
To anchor the system in a partnership between a community health center and community based partner(s) and CHC-CBO dyad’s day-to-day partnership with other community actors, BCYF, BPS, BEMS and BPD.
To work with residents and community actors (government, non-governmental, civic and individual) to aid in the recovery and healing process for individuals, families and the community.
To continuously improve the robust, reliable, consistent and equitable delivery of trauma related services.
Trauma from Exposure to Community Violence
- The Network responds to community violence. Specifically, homicides, shooting or stabbing of two or more people or someone under the age of 18.
- The Network responds to an event that traumatically impacts a broader community, such as the accidental death of a child.
