Program Mapping Specialist

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT, WORK, SERVICE REQUESTED:

The Program Mapping Specialist will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to all faculty in mapping academic programs. The aim of program maps is to assist with class scheduling, and to provide clarity to students and counseling faculty on course sequences leading to completion. The Program Mapping Specialist will work with the Vice President of Academic Affairs to provide support for completion of academic program maps that lead to degrees and certificates.

SAMPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  Increase the awareness of the standards and expectations of program maps and program mapping in providing explicit pathways to students and as tools to help ensure academic success and degree/certificate completion on a timely basis.

2.  Keep abreast of developments in the field and actively disseminate this knowledge to faculty and staff as needed.

3.  Assist faculty to align program maps with program learning outcomes (PLOs) and required student course work. Assist the Office of Academic Affairs by providing relevant information for the scheduling of course sequences.

4.  Ensure that program mapping activities and reports are fully integrated into guided pathway design and implementation efforts.

5.  Provide educational and training activities pertaining to program mapping, including training in any applicable software, for faculty and staff.

6.  Work in collaboration with administrators to provide leadership to faculty and staff toward ensuring completion of program maps.

7.  Work with and provide to the Vice President of Academic Affairs an end-of-cycle status analysis of and report on program mapping activities and, if necessary, facilitate improvements in and adjustments to efforts directed to program mapping.

DELIVERABLES EXPECTED:

1.  Workshop/activity/training materials.

2.  Regular status reports on progress made in mapping specific academic programs.

3.  Updated list of academic programs that have been fully or partially mapped.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

1.  Experience in planning and coordinating college-related activities.

2.  Good organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to plan and follow through on projects.

3.  Strong written and oral communication skills.

4.  Demonstrated knowledge of program maps and the program mapping process.

5.  Proficiency in using program mapping tools and/or other relevant software.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:

1.  The term of assignment will be one semester. Certain responsibilities of this position may be included in another guided pathways related assignment in future semesters.

2.  Assignment will commence at the start, and end at the conclusion, of the Spring 2018 semester. Time commitment is expected to be at least 7 to 9 hours per week.

3.  This appointment earns 20% reassignment of non-instructional faculty load.

4.  Monthly time and effort reports are required to be submitted to and discussed with supervisor.
