Glootopia Location and gear sheet

What you’ll need (overnighters who plan on carving out/sleeping in Igloos):

-Some warm clothes – you may find yourself standing around a good bit

-A dry pair of everything – You’ll be playing around in the snow. You’ll want something dry to sleep in at the very least.

-Sleeping pad

-Sleeping bag

-Plastic bags – to keep things dry when you sleep inside the quinzee

-Snowshoes

-Shovel. Not everyone needs one, but it would be nice if we have enough.

-Basic camping things (toiletries, etc)

-A tarp if you got one.

-Something dry to sit on – we’ll have benches made of snow – you might want to bring something to separate the cold snow from your butt.

-If you can, bring a camp chair.

-Food, drinking water.

-Beer, preferably of the canned variety (for waste sake)

-A tent ( in case you are not staying in an igloo – probably should bring one anyways)

Getting there:

Step 1) Go to the livermore parking lot in Waterville Valley

To get to the livermore parking lot take rte 49 from Campton to Waterville Valley. When you get to the obnoxious blinking speedometer light take a left turn (tripoli rd). Follow this road until you see a less plowed road going kinda straight and a better road which pitches off to the left (to the ski area) go staight (still Tripoli rd). after about a mile the plowing ends and there is a turn to the right over a bridge. Go this way then take an immediate left.

SNOW SHOES ARE VITAL TO KEEPING THE FOLLOWING ROUTE IN GOOD SHAPE DUE TO EXPECTED ABOVE FREEZING TEMPERATURES FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

Step 2) The trail to gloo2 leads into the woods about 150 feet to the left of the Pit toilets. It’s not far from a solar panel. It should be pretty obvious. WEAR SNOW SHOES!!!!!! The trail needs to be kept in good shape for pulks.

Step 3) You’ll cross a Ski trail. Just keep going straight.

Step 4) Follow the signs. Hopefully by the time you get up there we’ll have them up. There is a pulk trail that goes up a gradual slope with a lot of switch backs. We should also have a hikers trail which will be a great deal steeper. THE PULK TRAIL IS TREMENDOUSLY FRAGILE. If you take the pulk trail stay on the inside. I suggest every try the pulk trail at least once – it’s pretty neat.
