PART 1 - GENERAL

1.4DEFINITIONS

1.5SUBMITTALS
- Product Data: Manufacturer’s data sheets for each glass product and glazing material.
- Samples: Minimum 12 by 12-inch square, for each type of glass product.
- Glazing Schedule: Prepare schedule using designations used on Drawings.
- Qualification Information: For Installer firm and Installer’s manufacturer/fabricator-trained field supervisor.
- Warranties: Submit sample meeting warranties requirements of this Section.
1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Manufacturer/Source: Obtain each type of glass product from a single primary glass manufacturer and a single manufacturer/fabricator for each glass product type.
- Installer Qualifications: Experienced Installer with minimum of 5 successful completed projects of similar materials and scope, approved by glass product manufacturer/fabricator.
- Safety Glazing Products: Comply with size, glazing type, location, and testing requirements of 16CFR1201 for Category I and II glazing products, and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.
- Glazing Industry Publications: Comply with glass product manufacturers’ recommendations and the following:
- GANA Publications: GANA Laminated Division's "Laminated Glass Design Guide" and GANA's "Glazing Manual."

1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
- Protect glazing materials during shipping, handling, and storage to prevent breakage, scratching, damage to seals, or other visible damage. Deliver, unload, store, and erect glazing materials without exposing panels to damage from construction operations.
1.8WARRANTY

- Provide a 5 year limited Warranty on Manufacturer's standard form, signed by manufacturer, agreeing to provide replacement glass for units that display delamination exceeding those allowed by ASTMC1172
- Warranty for Laminated Glass: Manufacturer/fabricator's standard form, signed by manufacturer/fabricator, agreeing to replace laminated-glass units that display edge separation, delamination, and blemishes exceeding those allowed by ASTMC1172, within [five] years of date of manufacture.

2.2GLASS PRODUCTS
Specifier: Retain the applicable general glass product requirements cited below after editing the content of Part 2 of this section.
- Glass Products, General:
- Annealed Float Glass, General: ASTMC1036, TypeII, Class I (clear), Quality-[Q5].
- Starphire Float Glass: ASTM C 1036, Type I, Quality-[Q3], Class I, low-iron
- Heat-Treated Float Glass, Heat-Strengthened: ASTMC1048; TypeI (transparent flat glass); Quality-Q3; Kind HS, of class and condition indicated.
- Heat-Treated Float Glass, Fully Tempered: ASTMC1048; TypeI (transparent flat glass); Quality-Q3; Kind FT, of class and condition indicated, CPSC 16CFR-1201; ANSI Z 97.1, where safety glass is indicated.

2.3GLAZING ACCESSORIES
Specifier: Retain accessories below required for types of glazing installations required for project. GlasPro recommends the specifier consult experienced local glazing installers for recommended practices.
- Cleaners, Primers, and Sealers: Types recommended by sealant or gasket manufacturer.
- Glazing Gaskets, Wedges, Setting Blocks, Shims, and Tapes: Manufacturer's standard, as recommended for decorative glass type and application.
- Glazing Sealants: ASTMC920, type recommended by glazing product manufacturer for application indicated.
Specifier: Modify and complete "Hardware" article below for fittings for installation of decorative glass glazing that are not specified in related sections. We recommend specifying by identifying manufacturer's basis of design products. Sources include C. R. Laurence Co., Inc. and CHMI Custom Hardware Manufacturing, Inc.
2.4HARDWARE FOR INTERIOR GLASS INSTALLATION

2.5FABRICATION OF GLAZING UNITS, GENERAL
- Fabricate decorative glass in dimensions required, with edge and face clearances, edge and surface conditions, and bite in accordance with decorative glazing manufacturer/fabricator’s instructions and referenced glazing publications.
- Edge Finishing: Fabricate decorative glazing finished edges to produce smooth edges without chips or scratches, polished, and warp-free. Provide finished edges of type(s) shown on Drawings.
- Machining: Drill, notch, and cutout decorative glazing as indicated. Make cutouts smooth and uniform.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1EXAMINATION
- Verify that glazing channels are clean and ready to accept glazing installation. Confirm that minimum required face and edge clearances will be maintained. Proceed with glazing once unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
- Examine glazing units prior to setting. Reject units that display edge or face damage that may impede performance of unit or that will be visible when installed.
3.2GLAZING INSTALLATION
- General: Install glass and glazing materials in accordance with instructions of manufacturer/fabricator and requirements of GANA Glazing Manual.
- Install setting blocks of size and in location required by glass manufacturer. Set blocks in bed of approved sealant.
- Provide spacers for glass lites as recommended, based upon size of glass unit.
- Comply with glass manufacturer’s limits on edge pressures.
- Provide edge blocking where recommended.
- Install sealants in accordance with requirements of Division 07 Section "Joint Sealants."
Specifier: Select glazing method or methods below that are applicable to project. Coordinate with Glazing Accessories selections in Part 2.
- Tape Glazing: Place tapes on fixed stops positioned to be flush or protrude slightly when compressed by glass. Install tapes continuously. Form butt joints at corners and where required, and seal tape joints with approved sealant.
- Gasket Glazing: Fabricate gaskets to fit openings exactly. Allow for stretching of gaskets during installation.
3.3CLEANING AND PROTECTION
- Protect installed glass from damage. Attach streamers or warning tape to framing members, away from contact with glass. Remove nonpermanent labels.
- Protect glass from contact with contaminating substances during construction. Immediately clean glass exposed to contamination using methods recommended by glass manufacturer.
- Clean all exposed glass surfaces using methods recommended by manufacturer. Remove glazing compounds from framing surfaces.
- Remove and replace broken or damaged glass.
