Warwick State High School will recognise student achievement at the annual Awards Night

The basis for all awards is performance for the year to the end of Term 3.

Each area will have a panel who will make recommendations to the Principal for final approval.

ACADEMIC AWARDS

School Dux / School Medal
Certificate
Cash Prize - $600.00
Criteria:
Awarded for academic achievement to a Year 12 student (must be only one winner) who achieves the highest rung placement on the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Form R6 for QCAA subjects. This award will be determined after the final deliberations of verification meetings in October. As the Senior Dux is determined before QCAA Overall Position (OP) scores are calculated, the Senior Dux may not necessarily achieve the highest OP in the school.

If more than one student meets the minimum criteria, the panel will judge which student meets the criteria to the highest degree. If two or more students cannot be separated the prize will be shared

This award goes to the student (must be only one winner) who displays:
Outstanding skills in Performing Arts productions through the year.
A very high level of commitment and dedication towards excellence when participating in Performing Arts events.
An ability to work well with the Production ensemble and teachers involved.

A passion for the Arts and great potential for a future in any performing arts field.
The student can be from any Year Level and does not necessarily have to study a Performing Arts Subject

display an acceptable standard of behaviour.
Full Colours:
make the final at the Queensland Titles in swimming or athletics or
gain selection in a Queensland Schools Team or are named as Shadow or
are members of a Warwick High School team that wins a substantial State competition.
Half Colours:
gain selection in a Darling Downs team (unless a relatively new or minor sport in which an abnormally large number of Warwick State High School students compete and a very small number from other schools.)*
are named as a ‘shadow’ player for a Darling Downs Team.
are members of a Warwick High team that wins a substantial District competition.
Special Circumstances:
If the panel deems that a student deserves Colours for exceptional performances in special circumstances, eg. disabled sports or contribution to sport in another capacity (refereeing, organisation, etc), then Colours will be awarded accordingly.
Equestrian
Criteria:
Awarded to students at any year level who:
have their horses in top condition working them on a daily basis and competing at local level in competitions.
nominate to compete at the Regional Championships which takes in all of the Darling Downs. Here they compete against up to 200 other competitors. There are 8 Regional Championships in Queensland so in reality are up against at least 1000 competitors.
At regionals they need to place with a percentage of at least 55 and in the top ten in dressage and in the top 10 in the combined training and show jumping to have a chance at qualifying for the State Championships.
To qualify for State they take the highest percentages or point scores in all of the state from those that qualified from the regional championship and then work their way down until they have 30 in each event.
Full Colours:
Need to compete at State Level and placed in the top 10
And show commitment to team/individual training.
