Spectral Computers Announces 8 New Pro Audio Optimized PCs
Designed Specifically for the Professional Audio Environment
— Spectral offers users the ultimate choice of either
Intel® or AMD based digital audio workstation configurations for any production need —
SHERMAN OAKS, CA, March 1, 2006 — Spectral Computers, a leading manufacturer of PC workstations designed specifically for the professional audio community, is pleased to announce eight new additions to its line of high-powered Windows®-based computer systems, including new AMD processor availability and a compact “cube” case design option. Each Spectral workstation has been tested and approved by leading software manufacturers and is designed to deliver superior 64-bit performance (when Windows XP Professional X64 is loaded) and the reliability necessary for critical studio and production environments. All Spectral Computers have been designed, built, tested and then qualified as meeting or exceeding the exacting system requirements of pro audio software by most major suppliers including Cakewalk, Digidesign® (ProTools® LE and M-Powered systems), mLAN, Steinberg, Tascam/Gigastudio, and others.
The 7000 Series
Spectral’s new flagship PC system is the RM-7400, available in both an Intel® 930 Pentium D Dual Core with 4 MB cache (2 per core) 800 FSB-based model and an AMD Dual Core 4400+ model.
Each system boasts 4 GB of RAM (DDRII 667 MHz dual-channel, Intel; DDR 400 MHz dual-channel, AMD), a 74 GB SATA 10,000 RPM 4.5ms system hard drive, four 250 GB (1 Terabyte) SATA II RAID recording hard drives, and a 400 GB removable SATA II backup drive for the ultimate in storage flexibility and staggering 160+ MB/second recording drive speed. Furthermore, the RM-7400 offers an Nvidia PCI Express 6600 16X Dual Head video card for in-depth graphics rendering abilities.
Spectral’s new RM-7200 workstations come with the same dual core Intel and AMD processing and high-speed RAM configurations as the RM-7400. The RM-7200 features 2 GB of RAM, a 74 GB SATA 10,000 RPM 4.5ms system hard drive, two 250 GB SATA II recording hard drives, and a 250 GB removable drive. The Nvidia PCI Express 6200 16X Dual Head video card also comes standard.
The new Spectral RM-7100 models feature the same powerful AMD or an Intel 830 Pentium D Dual Core 800 FSB processor option, 2 GB of RAM (DDRII 533 MHz dual-channel, Intel; DDR 400 MHz dual-channel, AMD), a 74 GB SATA 10,000 RPM 4.5ms system hard drive, and a 250 GB SATA II recording hard drive. The Nvidia PCI Express 6200 16X Dual Head video card also comes standard on RM7100 models.
The RM-5100
The RM-5100 PC offers an Intel 820 Pentium D Dual Core 800 FSB processor, 1 GB of DDRII 533 MHz dual-channel RAM, a 160 GB SATA II 7200 RPM system hard drive, and a 250 GB SATA II recording hard drive. Intel GMA950 onboard graphics processing is also provided.
All Spectral 7000 and 5000 Series computers feature a 3U rack-mount case with a super low-noise automatic temperature control system for ultimate reliability and accessibility, and a 400 Watt quiet power supply (except the RM-5100 which features a 300 Watt power supply). The chassis provides multiple IEEE1394 (FireWire) and USB 2.0 ports, a DVD-R/W 16x dual layer drive, LAN port(s), 7-in-1 card memory card reader, keyboard and optical mouse. The RM-5100 uses Windows XP Home, while all 7000 Series models use the Windows XP Professional operating system.
The CB-1100 “Cube”
For those wanting an even more compact professional audio computer solution, Spectral offers the new CB-1100 “Cube” PC — a compact and powerful system with a space-saving case design for ultimate integration into today’s high-tech studio environments. The CB-1100 features an Intel Pentium 630 CPU processor (P4 3.0 MHz, 64-bit EMT compatible) and 1 GB of DDRII 533 MHz dual-channel RAM (upgradeable to 4 GB). An 80 GB SATA II 7200 RPM system hard drive comes standard, as well as a 160 GB recording hard drive. The unit, running on a 300 Watt quiet power supply, provides a 5.25" front panel expansion bay, 2 open PCI and 2 PCI Express slots, 3 FireWire ports, 6 USB 2.0 ports, a 16x Dual Layer DVD/RW optical drive, Intel GMA950 onboard graphics, and Intel HDA onboard multi-channel audio. The system comes standard with LAN port, optical mouse, keyboard, and digital backup software for the Windows XP Home operating system. The CB-1100 is also upgradeable to a dual core processor for increased power.
Spectral Computers also offers a wide range of versatile customization options which may be found online at in the Products / Custom Shop section.
About Spectral Computers
Ordinary off the shelf PCs are not designed to operate in the industrial 24/7 environment of the production studio; these are often susceptible to (and a cause of) both RF and acoustic interference, while case build, power supply and other elements do not provide the reliability and robustness required for professional audio use. The operating system is not optimized. Windows variants include vast numbers of processes and applications that are running all the time but apply to a general computing environment, slowing the speed of the machine and precipitously reducing reliability. In addition, standard PCs tend to be built from a grab-bag collection of boards, drives and parts, making it impossible for their behavior, even in a tightly-defined software environment, to be predicted.
PCs from Spectral address all these problems — and more.
Spectral Computers Are Qualified
Spectral Computers have been designed, built, tested and then qualified as meeting or exceeding the exacting system requirements of pro audio software by all the major suppliers including: Digidesign, Steinberg, TC Electronic, Native Instruments, Cakewalk, Gigastudio, M-Audio and others.
Spectral Computers Are Optimized
The complete Spectral range delivers the power, stability and reliability needed for use in the professional digital audio world where everything must work properly, all the time. Spectral Computers are designed to maximize the throughput of AV data, providing the features required by today’s audio creation software. The Spectral range is able to process significantly more AV data at higher speeds, while the installed Windows XP operating system has been deeply optimized to clear out unnecessary features and applications that have no place in a studio, resulting in greatly increased speed with improved reliability and stability.
Spectral Computers Can Be Customized and Upgraded
If customers need even greater performance than Spectral’s standard models deliver, Spectral Computers can be customized to deliver what’s required. Whether it’s a faster processor, more RAM or a special hardware/software configuration, Spectral has a solution. Additionally, Spectral Computers are based on an open architecture, which allows a system to be upgraded as performance needs increase.
Spectral Computers offer audio production ‘must-have’ features, including ultra-quiet operation, automatic thermal regulation and automatic system data backup/recovery. These are not just ‘extras’ in pro audio: they’re necessities.
It all adds up to one thing: Spectral makes the best solution for Windows-based audio creation and manipulation in the professional audio world.
