1st period: do 1 through 4 plus all the odd problems.
3rd period: do 1 through 4 plus all the even problems.
1. Aaron spends 2 hours a day playing video games. How many total hours does he spend on video games in 1 week?
2. Aaron gets paid $7.00 an hour at his job. How much money would he have earned if he spent those 2 hours a day working, instead of playing video games?
3. There are 180 days in a school year and you get 3 assignments a day how many total assignments do you get in 1 school year?
4. Mr. Morris likes to watch the packers play football. There are 16 football games a season and each game last for about 3 hours. How many hours does Mr. Morris spend watching the packers for the whole season?
5. Jerritt wants to buy this really cool car but it cost $4650 and he doesn’t have a job, and the only job he can find will pay him $5.00 an hour and he can only work 20 hours a week. How many weeks will he need to work before he can buy the car?
6. Leonard wants to become a stuntman for the movies. He finds a great stuntman school online and he applies and gets accepted. The only problem is that the school is in California and Leonard doesn’t have a car or money for a plane ticket. It will cost him $2,000 to buy a car that gets 30 miles per gallon. The trip is 1200 miles and gas in $4.00 gallon. It is $2,500 for the plane ticket. Which one would be cheaper for him?
7. Cody wants to join army for a career and he also wants a wife and kids. If he gets paid $25,000 a year will he be able to afford rent at $650 month, car payment of $200 month, and grocery bill of $500 a month and a utility bill of $250 a month?
8. There are 52 weeks in a year, and you work 40 hours a week how much do you need to make an hour to make $60,000 a year?
9. If a bus driver gets paid $20,000 a year and he works 35weeks a year how many weeks will it take him to earn $2000?
10. What is the bus driver’s hourly wage if he works 30 hours a week?
11. A car is traveling at 60 mph and is tailgating another car at distance of only 30 ft. If the reaction time of the tailgater is 0.5 seconds (time between seeing the brake lights of the car ahead flash and hitting the brake), how far will his car travel during his reaction time?
12. Suppose a 2009 Mustang can accelerate from a stop to 100 mph in 15 seconds. Let us assume that the acceleration was at a constant rate (This would mean that the average speed during the time traveled was 50 mph.) Would the Mustang have traveled the quarter mile in this time? (1 mile = 5280 ft.)
