Transition Arrangements
This qualification has beenreplaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Retail (Level 3) [Ref: 2235]. People currently working towards this replaced qualification may either complete the requirements by December 2018or transfer their results to the replacement qualification.
After 31 December 2016 all new trainees will be enrolled in programmes leading to the replacement qualification.

Purpose
This is a supervisory/management level qualification for people who are working or intending to work in loss prevention in the retail and distribution industries. The qualification is designed for completion in the workplace.
People awarded this qualification are able to demonstrate advanced practical skills in loss prevention in the retail and distribution sectors. The compulsory section contains standards that will allow people to explain practices to detect and reduce staff theft and fraud, use security systems and equipment, record loss, minimise or prevent process loss, use ordering procedures and stock take to minimise loss and implement loss prevention policies and procedures in the workplace.
The elective section allows flexibility and choice in tailoring the qualification to different industry needs. This caters for the needs of small, medium and large enterprises prevalent in retail and distribution industries.
This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Retail and Distribution (Loss Prevention) (Level2) [Ref:1511] and may also lead to the National Certificate in Retail (Level4) [Ref:0995].

Quality Management Systems
Providers and Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess by a recognised Quality Assurance Body before they can register credits from assessment against standards. Organisation with consent to assess and Industry Training Organisations assessing against standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Consent to assess requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) for each standard.
