Syracuse VA Medical Center to Participate in the Annual Military Appreciation Day

Event to be held at Clarkson University Saturday September 10th

Staff Will Assist Eligible Veterans to Enroll in Care

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse VAMC, the VA’s Massena and Watertown Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC’s) and the Watertown Vet Center will participate in the annual Military Appreciation Day, sponsored by the North Country Veterans Association, Saturday, September 10, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at the student center at Clarkson University in Potsdam.

VA and CBOC staff members will be on hand to answer questions or concerns from Veterans regarding their care and lead them through a major display of VA Healthcare resources and programs to include Primary Care, Tele-Health, Mental Health, Homed Based Primary Care, Women’s Health, MyHealtheVet and more. VA Human Resources representatives will also discuss employment opportunities and enrollment staff will on hand to assist eligible Veterans interested in getting their healthcare at the VA. Veterans are encouraged to bring their DD-214’s or other discharge papers.

The Syracuse VA Medical Center, and 7 associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics, provides healthcare for nearly 50,000 Veterans in a thirteen county area of New York State, to include some 6,000 in the North Country.

“Our goal is to be the provider of choice for all Veterans who are eligible and this event is a great way for us to reach out to those who need and desire care and show them how we can provide that care and service, in many cases right in their community to eliminate where possible, the need to travel to the Medical Center in Syracuse,” said Richard Kazel, External Primary Care Line Manager for the Syracuse VA.
