Overview:

ChildAdvocates–Denver CASAispartofanationalmovementoforganizationsthattrainvolunteersto servechild andyouth victimsof abuse andneglect.Allof the childrenandyouthservedbyChildAdvocates–DenverCASAhave anopendependency, neglect or truancy casewiththeDenverDepartmentofHumanServices.Manyofthemareplacedinfostercare,andseparatedfromtheirfamilies.CASAstandsforCourt Appointed SpecialAdvocateandaCASAVolunteerworkscloselywith thecourtsandhumanservicesandensuresthattheneedsofthe child oryoutharebeingmet.CASAVolunteers,alongwiththe otherprofessionalsonthecase, focusonfindingapermanentand safe home forthechildoryouth.

Purpose:

ToprovidesupportfortheChildAdvocates—DenverCASAprogramby:Supervisingvolunteersfocusedonadvocatingfortheneedsofchildreninfostercare; monitoringandmaintainingdataonassigned cases andvolunteers;assistingwithgeneralmanagementoftheprogram; implementing supplemental programs that benefit the CASAs and the child welfare community as a whole.

MajorDutiesAdvocateSupervision

  • Responsiblefor allaspectsofhighqualityAdvocate supervision for 30-35 CASA Volunteers
  • EnsuretimelyandefficienthandlingofAdvocates’caseassignmentprocess
  • Responsibleforon-goingdevelopmentofAdvocatesbyprovidingstrong,consistentsupervisionanddirectionforeachAdvocateindividually
  • ResponsibleforensuringAdvocatesmaintainNationalCASAstandardsofchildvisits,courtreportinganddatareporting
  • Workinconjunctionwiththe Executive Directortoincorporatenewandupcomingtrendsinvolunteerretentionandsupervision
  • Accountableformaintainingan85%retentionratewithAdvocates
  • Supervise Peer Coordinators as assigned. Peer Coordinators manage up to 10 CASA volunteers.

DataMaintenance

  • DailymaintenanceofspreadsheetsandAdvocaterecords; Database management, review and reporting
  • Accountablefor regular reportingtothe Executive Director
  • WorkwitheachAdvocatetoensurecompleteandtimelyreportingonoutcomerelatedinformation
  • Trackandaccuratelyreportonallcaseinformationincluding:casecomposition,demographics,courtdatesandchangestopermanencyplan

GeneralProgramSupport

  • Some expertise in related fields such as trauma, mental health and special education
  • Assist Lead Advocate Supervisorwithvolunteersatisfactionandretentionstrategies
  • Workwith Executive Director and the Volunteer & Outreach CoordinatortoengageAdvocatesinorganizationalactivitiesandopportunities
  • Createandimplementon-going‘meet-up’opportunitiesforAdvocatesonyour individualcase load
  • Develop,organizeandcarryoutproceduresandacalendarforAdvocaterecognitionandrelevantactivities
  • Musthaveavehicleandabilitytoworkremotelywhennecessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred
  • Bilingual highly desirable
  • Workexperience inhumanservices,socialwork,publicadministration,laworrelatedfields
  • Knowledgeofjuvenilecourtandsocialservicessystems
  • Strong data input, management, analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellentcommunicationsskills
  • Abilitytopositivelyrepresenttheorganizationinmeetingswithcommunitystakeholders
  • Basicknowledgeof childdevelopment
  • Basicunderstandingofchildwelfareservicesinthecommunity
  • Abilityandwillingnesstoworkwith volunteersandhelpthemsucceed
