Central High School
Weekly News and Notes - Week of November 17, 2014
“Outstanding Academic Achievement for ALL- Putting Students First“
Principal Corner:
· As a reminder, teacher hours are from 7:30 to 3:00. All staff should be at their classroom doors by the 7:35 bell.
· I hope all teachers enjoyed visiting each other during peer observations last week. It was a great opportunity for professionals to communicate with each other and deepen understanding/best practices of close reading and text dependent questioning. Please reach out to colleagues, TC/DC’s, Dr. Fuller, and administrative liaisons to further your skills.
Academic Excellence Corner:
· This week marks the end of Professional Development Cycle 2. Administrators and TC/DC’s will collaboratively walk through classes this week to analyze progress in their departments. This opportunity is a chance to determine strengths and areas of growth for our departments/schools. This is not meant to be evaluative. My expectation is that you attempt the cycle activities during the time of visitation.
Safe and Supportive Environment Corner:
· Thanks to the PBIS Committee, Central High School has provided school wide expectations through the Office vs. Classroom Managed Behaviors to staff. Please use this as a guide when dealing with issues in your classroom.
· This week during collaborative planning, we will continue to engage in discussion around providing supports to students. In addition to a follow up presentation to the Early Warning Indicator Report (EWIR) by grade level, we will discuss the SIT referral process.
Kudo and Shoutouts:
· Fall Coaches at Central HS (Mr. Amaker, Ms. Peterson, Ms. B Jones, Ms. Hall, Mr. Gonzalez, and Mr. Patnode) for spending your time working with our students. Your example of leadership is appreciated.
· Mr. Toth, Mr. Ali, Mr. Atowa, and the entire PBIS team coordinated a successful event. Although “the skates were lost in transport” the students had fun.
· Dr. Fuller, Dr. Jones, Mr. Miller, and Ms. Wallace for successfully putting together the School-wide PD on October 31.
· TGIF Teacher of the Week - Ms. Calado
