Objectives of the traditional food festival

  • To educate people on agricultural biodiversity and encourage conservation by popularizing traditional recipes made from lesser known crop varieties.
  • To educate people on eating in season and encourage them to have local grown food.
  • To popularize the use of wild food/uncultivated vegetables which are no longer consumeddue to ignorance about their nutritional value and recipes.
  • To provide a platform for traditional organic farmers and help in creatingmarket linkages for their products.
  • To encourage dialogue between students and innovators and thus encouragethe spirit of innovation and creativity.

Rules/Guidelines for the stall holders

1. Only approved recipes will be allowed to be sold. Themethod of preparing such dishes and their respective rates will have to besubmitted to CEE office before January 30th, 2012.

2. For cooking stalls we will provide the following:

Stall size would be 10 X 15 feet and 10 feet space behind the stall forcooking area along with canopy.

  • Each stall will have four tables, four chairs, two tube light (front and backof stall) and one regular use power plug
  • The water taps would be provided at a certain distance; stall-holders willhave to fetch water for cooking from those water taps as per their requirementand also store it in advance as per their usage to avoid unforeseencircumstances
  • For availing extra facilities such as extra fans, tables or chairs, tube lights,plugs, halogen lights, deep freeze, etc., stall-holders will have to inform usand deposit extra charges for the respective facilities before 1st February, 2012.
  • In the event that we find any stall holder using any extra electric instrumentsapart from the ones which have been declared, CEE holds the right toclose the stall.
  • The main power source will be shut off between 11:30 p.m. to 10:0 a.m.

3. For non-cooking stalls/individual/commercial/others we will provide thefollowing:

  • Stall size would be 10 X 15 feet (Table Space)
  • Each stall will have four tables, four chairs, one tube light (front of stall)and one regular use power plug only for mobile charging
  • For availing extra facilities such as extra fans, tables or chairs, tube lights,plugs, halogen lights, deep freeze, etc., stall-holders will have to inform usand deposit extra charges for the respective facilities before 30th January, 2012 (Friday).
  • After the festival has begun, no extra facilities will be provided.
  • In the event that we find any stall holder using any extra electric instrumentsapart from the ones which have been declared, CEE holds the right toclose the stall.
  • The main power source will be shut off between 11:30 p.m. to 10:0 a.m.

4. The organizers hold the power to accept or reject a stall proposal basedon our guidelines and rules. If the organizers find that the recipes, ingredients or the stall holder’s attitude does not go with objectivesfor ‘RutuAahar’, we hold the right to cancel the stall and return the paidamount.

5. Stall banner must be written in Gujarati & English with size of 6 X 4 feet,showing the name and rate of the dish.Only one banner is allowed to beput outside the stall.

6. Deposit the stall charges in time. The stalls would beallotted based on the objectives of ‘RutuAahar’. The authority to do the same lieswith Centre for Environment Education (CEE). Kindly get approval for products and prices, recipe, nutritionvalue etc., by 27th January, 2012.

7. It issuggested to use limited oils and spices in the cookingprocess. Use of artificial preservatives or colors is strictly prohibited.

8. Use or supply of plastic carry bags, thermocol glasses, or such material madefrom plastic or non biodegradable material is strictly prohibited in the traditional food festival campus.

9. Keeping or selling water pouches is prohibited.

10. A stall holder would not make any claim before the customers if he or shedoes not have proof or evidence to support it.

11. No one will be allowed to distribute or sell any other material or literature oruse the stall for any other purpose except for which the stall is allotted to you.

12. Any change in conditions will be intimated.

13. Stall holders will be given identity cards for 5 people.

14. During the festival, if any calamity or disaster (fire, earth quake, rain, cyclone,riots, theft or accident) causes any damage, the risk of the same would restwith stall holder. The organizers will arrange for fire brigade, ambulance,private security.

15. The stall holder should use dustbins for disposing off the left overs. Cleanlinessshould be maintained infront and behind the stalls. There will be one dustbinprovided between two stalls. Cleanliness of the cooking area is the stallholder’s responsibility.

16. Gloves, aprons, caps are compulsory to be worn by the servers of every stall.Spoons and ladles are to be used to serve the customers, no one is to beserved by bare hands.

17. On the last day, the stall holders will be given the gate passes to leave thefestival ground only after they have cleaned the stalls and their surroundings.On the last day vehicles will be allowed to enter after 10.45pm. The vehicleswill not be allowed to enter the premises after 11.00am in the morning forbringing in goods.

18. The stall holders will have to comply with all rules and guidelines strictly inletter and spirit.

19. If you have any specific requirement or suggestion regarding the stall, pleasegive it in writing at the time of paying the money.

20. Any discussions about the event is welcome.
