Short history
Enterprise was founded by the State in 1991 by Forest Law which was enacted at the time. At the beginning SE managed around 1,110,000 ha divided into 27 Forest Estates, covering whole area of Serbia, with total of over 10,000 employees. After the bombing and occupation of Kosovo by NATO in 1999 Forest Estates from that region no longer under SE management, but are under UNMIK control. In 2003, four Forest Estates from Vojvodina separated from SE, forming a new SE “Vojvodinašume”. Today, SE “Srbijašume” manages around 990 000 ha, divided into 17 Forest Estates and 66 Forest Administration Units.
Legal form of enterpriseis “State Enterprise” and therefore it is state owned.

Silviculture - forest maintenance and regeneration, reconstruction and reclamation of degraded forests and brushwood, production of forest seeds and nursery stock and establishment of new forests and forest plantations;
Exploitation of forest products - forest assortments and their transport, NWFP, forest recreation and other aspects of forest utilization;
Forest roads, parks and green spaces for recreation - design, construction and maintenance;
Hunting - game breeding and hunting tourism.

Innovation case:
In picnic forest “Zabran” in vicinity of Obrenovac city new trim trail was made by SE Srbijasume in cooperation with local governance.Trim trail is 1480 m long and has 16 workout stations.
Importance of this innovation is in improvement of recreational possibilitiesfor local populationby providing them with a place where they can jog and exercise. Because of that, this is also improvement of recreational functions of that forest.Trim trail is finished and open for public. SE will receive subsidence for maintenance - for renewing of stations equipment and clearing herbaceous vegetation and bushes around the trail. Project funding was provided by Environment Protection Fund of Obrenovac Municipality and they will subsidize maintenance for this and next year.
