DearHollisF.PriceMiddleCollege Community:
Each year the State of Tennessee releases a report on the progress of schools. The progress of schools is determined by achieving certain targets, these targets are: test participation and performance measured across subgroups of students (grouped by such categories as race, language proficiency, and disability). In addition, schools must meet graduation rate and attendance targets.
Hollis F. Price is a Title I school which qualifies us to receive federal funds; Title I requires schools create a positive and supportive learning environment that results in high levels of achievement for all students. Funds are available for academic programs and strategies, additional teachers and other personnel, staff development materials and supplies, technology, and parent training.
You will receive notices and information throughout the school year to keep you informed about the progress of your child and the status of the school in making progress toward helping all children meet high academic standards. I urge you to examine the results and look closely at the progress our school is making. Most importantly, I encourage you to join me in addressing our challenges and applauding the great work students and staffare doing in classrooms throughout the district. We also look forward to your attendance at school meetings when we will discuss the development, revision, and implementation of our Schoolwide Improvement Plan.
Our school is filled with outstanding teachers, administrators, and support staff, who regularly update their skills and participate in training to help them meet the needs of all students.
You are an important partner in our effort to provide the best education possible for your child. Please call the school and contact our Professional Learning Coach, Aleta Maclin, or myself if you have any questions or would like additional information.
Professionally,
Sandra L. Barnes
