Description of Available Board Positions:
Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for handle all matters financial for the organization. This includes making deposits, submitting reimbursements, submitting payment through purchase order, and writing budget request forms. At the end of the year, the Treasurer, along with the rest of the board, submits an Annual Allocations request to fund MODA for the next academic year. Candidates should be well organized and responsible.
Sponsorship Director: Sponsorship Director is in charge of procuring sponsors for MODA events; most importantly, for securing sponsorship for our largest fashion show during the winter quarter. This director will assemble a Sponsorship Committee to help find, secure, and manage sponsors for MODA events. This task requires a lot of people skills and charisma, as well as an ability to manage many tasks at once. Having a car is also very helpful.
Designer Relations Director: This position oversees and administrates all matters concerning designers. The Designer Relations Director seeks out designers from within the University, as well as Hyde Park and Chicago, to participate in MODA events. This positions also demands people skills, as well as the ability to branch out into new areas to find designers for MODA shows/events.
Model Relations Director: Model Relations Director administrates all model activity within MODA. This position involves communicating all relevant information to models, as well as to the Designer Relations Director, in order to successfully bridge the gap between designer and model. This positions requires organizational and communication skills.
Business Manager: The Business Manager is in charge of organizing a team to find sponsors to purchase advertisements for the magazine. In addition, the Business Manager should be creative in thinking of new ways to better secure self-generated funds to finance the magazine’s publication. Creativity and entrepreneurship are useful abilities.
Secretary: The Secretary is in charge of taking minutes at the weekly MODA Board meetings, as well as communicating important information to the MODA listhost.
Webmaster/Graphic Designer: The Webmaster and Graphic Designer should, ideally, be a single role. But, if you seek to do one or the other, please indicate that by circling (or bolding, for electronic submissions) the relevant title.
Webmaster will be in charge of updating the MODA website to display information about event dates, as well as general information as it is provided. Experience with HTML required.
Graphic Designer will work with the board to produce graphics for MODA advertisements, as well as programs and flyers. Please submit a sample of work, if available.
