RE:UMMOutstandingSupport StaffAwards

As we encourage andsupportthe outstandingeffortsandserviceofUMMemployees,UMMwill awardthreeOutstandingSupportStaffawardsfor2017-2018.

Each awardpresentedwillbe intheamountof$500. Oneawardwillbepresented to oneemployee ineachof thefollowinggroups: CivilService/LELS,AFSCMEClericalandTechnical,andTeamsters.Any member of theUMMcommunity maynominate a staffpersonfortheseawards bycompletingand returningtheattached nominationformtoHumanResources at201BehmlerHallby4:30p.m.,Friday, March9, 2018. Ifyou nominatedsomeonelastyearandtheydidn’t win, weencourageyou to nominatethemagain.

Guidelines for nominationshave alsobeenattached. Followingis asummaryof the guidelinesused for selection:

  • Nominationsshouldaddresseach of 4criteria:Jobperformanceandcompetence,cooperativespiritandhelpingattitude,innovativeideas andan addeddimension. Commentsmustbelimited to3-5 sentencespercriterion(750charactersor lesspercriterionandincludeexamplesof the outstandingwork). Submissionswithmore than 3-5sentences ineachcriterion(more than 750characters), or attachments,willnotbe considered. The selectionofOutstandingSupport StaffAwardrecipientswillbebased onthecontentofthenomination submittedand willnotbe basedonthenumberofnominatorsor nominationsreceived. Employees who areselectedOutstandingSupportStaffAwardwinners willreceive acopyof thenominationsubmitted.
  • Employeesmay onlyreceivethisawardonetime in theirUMMcareer. Acompletelist of OutstandingSupportStaffAwardwinnersare included with the nomination materialsandpostedon our HumanResourceswebsite at ( foundunderOther Information ormay be requested fromthe Office ofHumanResources atx6024.
  • Nominatorsmay be contactedforfurtherinformationaboutthe nominationthattheyhave submitted.
  • TheLaborManagementTeamwillselecttheOutstandingSupportStaffAwardwinners. Anyone on the Labor ManagementTeamthathasnominatedanotheremployee, oris anomineefortheaward,willbe excusedfromthe votingforthatgroup.

TheUniversityofMinnesota,Morris(UMM)recognizestheoutstandingserviceofitsemployees. TheOutstandingSupportStaffawardwillbepresentedtooneemployeeineachofthefollowing groups: CivilService/LELS,AFSCMEClericalandTechnical,andTeamsterrepresentedemployees. EachOutstandingSupportStaff Awardis$500.

CandidatesfortheOutstandingSupportStaffAwardshouldmeeteachofthecriterialistedbelow.

1.Jobperformanceandcompetence:Thecandidateshouldbeanoutstandingemployee. Thesupervisorwillbenotifiedofnominationandmaybeconsultedifthereareanyquestionsfromthecommittee.

2.Cooperative spirit and helping attitude: Thecandidateshouldexhibitacooperativespirit andahelpfulattitudeatUMM. Thecandidateshouldshowevidenceofenhancing communicationbetweenunitsbycreatinganopenspiritofcooperationacrossunitlines. The candidateshouldbedescribedasbeingapproachable,receptive,friendly,welcoming,helpful, encouragingandcommunicative.

3.Innovativeideas:Thecandidateshoulddemonstrateinvolvementwithintheunitby suggestinginnovativeordifferentideas,whichmight resultinincreasedunitefficiencyand effectiveness. Ideaspresentedshould at a minimum,demonstratetheinterestofthe candidateinthewelfareoftheunitanditspatrons.

4.Addeddimension:

Include participation on committees, University activities or volunteering on campus, for example.

Employees who are selected OutstandingSupportStaffAwardwinnerswillreceiveacopyofthenomination submitted.

Thesupervisorof employeenominatedneedstoreviewandsignthe formpriortosubmitting. BryanHerrmann,onbehalfof ChancellorBehrUMMcommunity,willsendacongratulatorylettertotheawardrecipientsandtheir supervisors. Thisletterandacopyofthenominationwillgointheemployee’spersonnelfile.

TheLaborManagementTeamwillselecttheOutstandingSupportStaffAwardrecipients. Anyone ontheLaborManagementTeamthathasnominatedanotheremployee,orisanomineeforthe award,willbeexcusedfromthevotingforthatgroup. Thesupervisorofeachrecipient willpick upacongratulatoryletterfromHumanResourcesanddelivertorecipient. Eachrecipientanda guestareinvitedtotheFaculty/StaffRecognitionDinner wheretheywillberecognized andhavedinner complimentsofUMM.
