JOB PURPOSE: The post-holder will have a primary commitment to co-ordinating and teaching modules and year levels on the BA (Hons) Creative Lighting Control programme andcontributing to the development of this area of the curriculum, under the direction of the Programme Director. She/he is also expected to contribute to the development and teaching of other programmes and professional training courses in the area of live sound for performance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the scope of the above job purpose:
Teaching and organisation and support of teaching
  • Responsibility for co-ordination and leadership of staff and students on modules and year levels of the BA (Hons) Creative Lighting Control programme
  • Supporting and guiding interdisciplinary collaboration between programmes, including teaching on other programmes as required
  • Design, delivery and teaching of modules within the framework of the programme
  • Delivering classes in lighting and video practice and theory to students
  • Provision as module co-ordinator of academic and personal tutorial guidance and support to students
  • Deployment, mentoring and supervision of a team of visiting and permanent tutors in conjunction with the Programme Director: Technology-Led Programmes
  • Planning and coordination of teaching and learning in conjunction with the Programme Director: Technology-Led Programmesand other programme directors within the College.
  • Responsibility for planning and supervision of students’ work in projects and assignments
  • Assessment and examination of students, co-ordination of tutors’ marks where appropriate, and collaborative participation in formal and informal assessment meetings
  • Membership of Programme Committees and Assessment and Examination Boards as required
  • Responsibility for administration (timetable, attendance records, assessment, etc.,) in support of teaching
Quality Assurance, review and programme development
  • Contributing to the annual review and quality assurance processes of the programmes and activities in the School
  • Ensuring that the quality of teaching is of the highest standard and meets all external requirements (Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), University validation, Drama UK accreditation, etc.)
  • Engagement with enhancement and development of the programme subject in line with a range of professional practices and programme/School aims
  • Developing and maintaining strong professional links in the area of lighting and video for live performance
  • Commitment to innovation and development of learning and teaching increative technologies
  • Incorporating all College policies and procedures into the delivery and practice of the course (e.g., implementation of Health and Safety procedures, Risk Assessment, etc.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The post-holder will be expected to work evenings and weekends when required, with time off in lieu.

Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Teaching in post-compulsory education qualification, or a willingness to undertake such a qualification within two years
