How do I qualify for the National Championship?
Time Trials: In each division, all drivers will qualify for their respective divisions in group qualifying. There will 15 minutes to record your fastest lap that lap will award points based on time trials using the following scale: 1st=200, 2nd=198, 3rd=196, 4th=194, 5th=192, etc. with a decrease of two points per position drop.
Heat Races: The heats will be inverted with the fast qualifiers starting in the rear. Points will be received on the following scale based on finish in the heat race: 1st=100, 2nd=97, 3rd=94, 4th=91, 5th=88, 6th=86, 7th=84, 8th=82, 9th=80, 10th=78, 11th=76, 12th=74, 13th=72, 14th=70, 15th=68, 16th=66, 17th=64, 18th=62, 19th=60 and 20th=58.
1. The qualifying time is 2/3 of the point’s total and consequently the most important. The heat race counts as the remaining 1/3 of the total. DQ’s result in zero points. Cars DQ’ed in qualifying will start in the rear of the Heat Race.
2. The driver with the highest point accumulation will start first in the Championship race, the driver with the second highest score will start second etc.
3. In the case of a tie the driver with the fastest qualifying time will receive the higher position.
4. If a driver goes to a backup car after the qualifying, that driver relinquishes all points and positions gained from the first car, and must start at the tail of the heat race. If a driver goes to a backup car after the heat race that driver will start at the back of the Championship race. Once a driver pulls onto the track he is in that car for the duration of that race. All back-up cars must be brought through Pre-Tech prior to competing.
