The Treloar Family Football Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of Charlie Treloar, a Roxbury High School football player from the Class of 1935. He was the very first All-State football player from Roxbury High School. He was a proud member of the 1934 RHS Gaels football team – the only undefeated football team in Roxbury’s history. In May of 2015, he was inducted posthumously into the Roxbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Charlie Treloar came from a humble background and made a living for his wife and two children by driving a Lakeland bus back and forth to NYC. He managed to send both of his children to college with the help of the scholarships his kids were able to obtain. To honor his memory and to assist others who struggle financially to raise funds to pay for college, the Treloar family proudly started this scholarship.

  1. Amount

A $1,000.00 one-year scholarshipawarded to the applicant chosen by the selection committee upon certification of attendance at an institution of higher learning.

  1. Criteria
  1. One scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded to an outstandinggraduating Senior member of the Roxbury High School Football team who plans to attend a two or four year college or university starting in the Fall of 2016.
  1. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher
  1. The applicant’s character, leadership and service to the community will be considered as well as the applicant’s financial need.

Be sure to request the Guidance Department to attach a copy of your grades and class standing.

Applications must be anonymous – please do not put your name anywhere on the application. All applications will be numbered upon receipt by the Guidance Department. The Selection Committee will learn the identity of the recipient only after they have chosen the winner.
