Prerequisites
Pre-Business Core, MGT 3300.
Description
Theory and practice in human resource training and development applied to organizational settings.
This course has an exercise/assignment.
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Plan a human-resource training program in an organizational setting.
- Explain the major training principles and how to design an effective training program.
- Explain the role of mentorship and coaching in developing human resources.
- Appraise training using advanced concepts and techniques of developing human potential.
- Discuss the effect of trainee demographics, job complexity, and changes in technology on training.
- Conduct a needs analysis to determine the appropriateness for a training intervention.
Purpose
To provide basic knowledge of the principles of training and human development to apply to real-world situations, in preparation for entry-level management positions. BABA/BSBA Management major specified elective (General Management or Human Resource Management concentration). Numbered MGT 3376 prior to Fall 2005.
Required Activity
This course must contain a student engagement activity with the community that relates to course content. The activity may include guest speakers, site visits, projects for the community/industry, etc…
