W.A.Y.R.B.A.

West Australian Young Reader's Book Award is a readers' choice award, organised on a statewide basis for young readers

The scheme represents a positive attempt to generate enthusiasm for pleasure reading, to enrich children's reading experiences and to develop their powers of discrimination incomparing quality literature.
The Award operates on three levels - Younger Readers, Picture Books and Older Readers. Readers are invited to nominate, through their libraries, books that they have enjoyed. These nominations are then considered by the WAYRBA committee and the three lists are drawn up.

Students are then asked to read titles on the lists and evaluatethem as ‘terrific’, ‘good’, ‘okay’ or ‘awful.’

HOW TO VOTE?

  • Children in year 4 -6 may participate.
  • Students select a book from display and have it wanded out on the computer.
  • When they have read the book have it wanded back in.
  • Student to complete a voting slip (inside the book) teacher must sign it.
  • Place the signed voting slip in box on Mrs Maskos’s desk.
  • Student to vote once ONLY per book read.

Book Fair

Our annual Book fair is booked in for 21st – 24th August 2015, mark your calendar to come and see Scholastics bigger and better range of books and postersavailable that will suit all ages.
Bookfair sales will be held in the Library from 8.15am - 9am, during lunchtime and from 3 - 3.30pm. This is a fantastic fundraiser for the Library.

Our2014 Book Fair was a huge success!
Due to your enthusiasm and love of books we were able to place 60 new books on the library shelves for your child to enjoy.

The Children's Book Council of Australia aims to foster children's enjoyment of books. We celebrate annually for one week in August with a new theme and put up a display in the Information Centre of books short listed for book awards.
