Reports To: CIO and Facilities Director
Job Focus: Under limited direction, performs a variety of cleaning work in offices, classrooms, restrooms, and multi-purpose rooms; assists with college’s preventive maintenance program; maintains and beatifies grounds; ensures the delivery of quality maintenance and janitorial services. Responds to emergency janitorial and maintenance requests. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School graduate
2. One (1) year experience performing janitorial and maintenance services
3. Proficient in computer applications
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain excellent customer relations
5. Demonstrated ability to follow various processes and procedures
6. Must successfully pass criminal background check
7. Valid driver’s license
Note: Related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis

Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Maintains proper care of college campus facilities including buildings, grounds, and fleet.
2. Provides care and routine maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment.
3. Observes safety rules and wears protective equipment while operating equipment and using chemicals.
4. Cleans facilities, including blinds, windows, light fixtures, drinking fountains and walls, following established procedures.
5. Thoroughly vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, and cleans building floors and carpets as needed.
6. Collects and disposes of trash receptacles in proper designated area as needed. Thoroughly cleans receptacles.
7. Thoroughly cleans restrooms and fixtures; ensures all toiletries and paper products are available for use.
8. Performs general repairs; replacing light bulbs, hanging curtains, moving furniture and moveable partitions, setting up chairs, tables, lights and podiums for special events and college functions.
9. Properly handles and maintains materials, tools and equipment.
10. Clean and maintain vehicle fleet and outside equipment such as tractors and mowers, etc.
11. Promptly reports any lost, damaged, or broken tools or equipment to appropriate personnel.
12. Properly maintains and operates power mowing, tilling and trimming equipment to cut grass, edge walks, flower beds, curbs, etc.
13. Mows lawns, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers; rakes, collects and disposes of leaves and refuse from grounds; applies insecticides by use of sprayer as directed and by adhering to necessary safety precautions; repairs and maintains sprinkler systems. Plant, mulch, fertilize and weed flower beds and shrubs. Treat and fertilize lawns.
14. Clears snow and debris from sidewalks.
15. Monitors supplies and materials inventory; apprises supervisor of shortages.
16. Demonstrates proper attitude and behavior including; getting along and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a member of a team, being able to think quickly and act appropriately in emergency situations, perform well under pressure, and putting in extra hours as the work load demands.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
