October 2015

Dear Applicant

KS1 P/T Teacher 2 days per week (Monday & Tuesday)

Thank you for your interest in the vacancy at Shaw Ridge School.

Shaw Ridge Primary School is a friendly, popular, hard-working school located on the west side of Swindon and has approximately 400 pupils and 60 staff. The school is well equipped and is sited in a locality that affords many educational opportunities. We strive to offer a broad and balanced curriculum and put the individual needs of the children at the forefront of what happens in the school. At Shaw Ridge we are committed to developing a creative and stimulating curriculum that enables children to have a wide range of ‘real’ learning experiences. The school encourages a variety of extra-curricular activities. Pupil behaviour is very good and they have positive attitudes to work.

The Governors and parents are actively involved with the school and work closely with the staff. We also work in collaboration with the local playgroups and churches. In November 2013 we converted to an Academy and currently have strong connections through the Link Collaborative Trust with three neighbouring schools, being Westlea Primary School, Peatmoor Primary School and Millbrook Primary School. Our OFSTED in July 2012 graded the school as ‘Good’, and we are now on a journey to become ‘Outstanding’.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher prepared to work with the staff to teach a Year 1 class for 2 days per week, being Monday and Tuesday. Excellent classroom practise is a pre-requisite of the post. Planning is undertaken alongside a year-group colleague within a supportive key-stage team.

At Shaw Ridge our first priority is the welfare of our pupils. The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the personal specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Only applications submitted on the school application form will be considered, these are available electronically on request. References will be taken up prior to interview.

Visits to the school are welcome by prior arrangement. The closing date for applications is Friday 6th November 2015, and interviews are planned for week commencing 16th November 2015. Candidates shortlisted will be contacted in the first instance by telephone by the end of the day on Thursday 12th November 2015 regarding interview arrangements.

Yours sincerely,

S E Cowell (Mrs)
