Minutes:

1. LOVIS project:

LOVIS is a new member of ANZMEX, which offers process and change management through human resources and software tools and is interested in opening an office in Australia in 2016. Their idea is to bring a few students from Australia for training and then send them back to open their office and start their consulting practice.

Subjects covered:

  • Perception of Mexico in Australia: Interesting but dangerous
  • Spanish Level required for candidates: Basic is enough
  • Benjamin de la Cueva suggested a clear proposal with the benefits so that it could be put forth before Australian Universities
  • LOVIS had previously worked with AIESEC ( but is aiming at finding a more permanent solution for its project
  • LOVIS is also going to provide a salary that is competitive and that will allow candidates to pay for their accommodation, transport and anything else they need
  • LOVIS is interested also in tapping into the Australian Alumni Association to do recruiting
  • LOVIS is looking for people with backgrounds in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering
  • The term of the contract in Mexico would be 6 months to a year

ACTION: Evelyn to send draft programme to members for their professional input. When finalised, programme to be forwarded to ANZMEX Education members and other relevant universities via Destino & ANZ Education.

2)Advancing the education agenda

  • Searching for a common agenda amongst all Education Agents
  • Requesting a list of things that need to be done in order to grow the education sector in Mexico and throughout Latin America. Examples of these are the Doctors that have been certified by the Australian Government to do Health Assessments and Check Ups before going to Australia as a student.
  • Involvement with the Australia Alumni Association to promote the Education Sector
  • Collaboration between the Alumni Association and the Endeavour Recipients that are alumni too – in progress
  • Benjamin De La Cueva said he had access to funding of around $3,000 AUD which could be provided to the Alumni Association to run events.
  • He also suggested an Australia Day event which would include alumni, corporations and prospective students that could be run and could be further sponsored by Australian Universities at the Australian Residence

ACTION: Confirm possible funding for Alumni events - Benjamin

ACTION: Lucia Lopez, (who has now left ANZMEX but will continue working with the Alumni) to follow up with Alumni Association regarding possible events/support – Lucia Lopez

ACTION: Schedule next meeting to time with visit of Keri Ramirez and Destino Education Fair - Ernesto
