Instructions For Copying, Pasting and Editing Charts

(For inserting into the trade template)

Step 1

Once you have the chart that you want to copy on your screen (either in your charting software or in a web site) press the‘Print Scrn’ key (top row of the keyboard, usually third from the far right). This may be called Print Screen on your computer.

This will copy the entire screen into the computer’s memory, ready to paste into another program (like Excel or Word).

Step 2

Open the template document in Excel. Move the mouse pointer over the space for the first chart and then press the right mouse button and select ‘paste’ from the menu. This will paste the entire chart screen onto the page.

Step 3

If your Picture Toolbar menu is not visible, you will need to show it.

Move the mouse pointer over the chart that has

just been pasted onto the blank page. Press the

right mouse button and select ‘Show Picture

Toolbar’ from the menu. This will bring up the

toolbar as shown, which you will use to edit

the chart picture:

Step 4

Use the mouse to click on the ‘crop’ button on the picture tool bar. Then move the mouse pointer over a cropping handle on the edge of the chart picture. On some versions of Excel, these appear as white squares, on later versions as black L-shapes.
Click the left mouse button and hold it down whilst moving the mouse across the area that you want cropped off.
Once you release the mouse button the picture will be cropped, just leaving you with the area you wanted (easier done than explained!)

Step 5

Then resize the picture as required.
