Introduction
Before we read Arthur Miller's The Crucible, we need to learn some background information about the subject matter.
This story takes place during 1692 in Colonial America. The Puritans of Salem Village began to discover some mysterious goings on. We will soon uncover the truths about the residents of SalemVillage and the so-called secret society of witches.
Task
First we will research the Puritan religion and lifestyle to understand the time period in which this story takes place.
Next, we will take a journey through the Salem witch trials to get a feel for what actually happened.
Lastly, we will also discover some interesting facts about the author, Arthur Miller. He was involved in his own modern day witch trials during the Red Scare of the 1950's.
